Silver Snoopy order process may drive me away from Omega

No one knows what the true demand is for the Snoopy-3 AND no one knows how many Omega plans on producing and for how many years.

Ask 10 different OB SAs and you'll get 10 different answers. I like to believe that demand will ultimately be met. 2021 will be a very difficult year for production. But I think ultimately after COVID subsides, the demand will ultimately be met. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for your work and pulling through these grueling times. I've been hauling ass since late January responding to COVID and now this vaccine distribution business is driving me nuts.

As for the Snoopy, as folks ahead of me said, COVID did take a toll. I was informed that I'm very close to getting the piece but I may back off and hand it off to the next person or get the piece and just give it to someone else at the regular price+tax. I got the 3861 hesalite recently and may go for the sedna or canopus gold models. Waiting's only half the battle on this one.

Just a ditto to what some posted... I too added my email to the 'Waiting List' through Omega's website on a few other pieces. I doubt it goes anywhere. I did it for the Ed White and got nothing... I even did it for the NTTD and heard nothing - for a watch that's supposedly still available.

I was lucky to have been burned by the website enough times to call an OB on day of release... Whoever added that to their website is sick.

Covid (as always) is just an excuse. This is not an omega (or even rolex, Patek or AP) problem it's a specific problem with the independent owners of the AD's who are milking the current euphoria for hi end watches (driven by 1 Billion people entering the middle classes in Asia) and the fact that the cost of ownership is being driven to zero (with negative interest rates).... So who can blame them selling to flippers? IMO

Why don't you give old mate the first option on it if you're not into it when you get it.
I'm sure it will be a very straight forward transaction between comrades in arms and you'd be helping each other out👍

I wasn't sure if I'd be violating the forum's TOS or not by suggesting directly!

good for you for giving up your seat. We all could use a little more of that kindness in 2021.

Don;t waste yr time with all the BS hype at the AD's - buy a vintage speedie and the new 2021 sapphire sandwich, get two for the price of one and keep the 5-10K (or more) change. You are going to get way better enjoyment (researching the vintage purchase, then wearing it on special occasions, and a way more practical wear at work etc ...with less stress you will damage or lose or have it stolen ...with the new just released professional model...) Just MO.

Great idea overall👍
Just one thing to keep in mind though👎
Medical people are required to be clean from the elbows down as best hygiene and practice.
So there won't be many opportunities to wear it at work. Especially given the nature of the strap.
The only exception may be a plain wedding band(no settings).
Of course, there will be plenty of opportunity travelling to and from work and at home😀

I'm not across it entirely myself👎
But I'll back you up on it if there's any pushback👍

So this transfer is a no-go. Need to find a different way but let's see if the OP's interested.

Of course, I'm all for keeping it simple.
To that, i am confident a personal message sent directly to him will establish the necessary arrangements😉

...even more reasons to not carry around and take on and off a 20K watch. Whilst it would be painful to misplace a 5K watch at work a 20K rarer piece would be way more painful and arguably more difficult to replace straight away under insurance.
But sure. A G shock is certainly less risk

Surprised to see this coming from a fellow physician. This is quite the first world problem. I diagnose or restage cancer in someone literally every day I work and occasionally treat them too (both palliative and curative intent). Thank god I don't have any health problems similar to my patients as they have it really bad sometimes but at least have a chance with access to healthcare literally billions in the world still don't. My take is the same for watches...yes I own an Omega and plan on getting another one in 2021 but if it doesn't work out who cares. I still have food, shelter, water, smartphone, internet, electricity, HVAC, a car, fast food/delivery to my door, air travel for cheap, anything I want stream to my TV, etc...better than most today and better than royalty just a few decades ago and certainly a century ago. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank You. Lots of great watches available and you can get this one eventually at a fair price if you just wait.

Thanks for the thought, but the reason for this post was certainly not an attempt to garner sympathy to obtain the watch... I would never want to screw over the next guy in line. Karma is just not to be messed with... but I'm certainly flattered by the generosity of strangers. I'm going to dig in and be patient. Either it will work out as production ramps up or maybe a couple emails to Omega directly might open the order books for me.
I wear my 1861 Speedmaster to work all the time! When I'm doing a procedure, I take it off and tie it to my scrub pants in the front... If anyone tries to grab it off of me I've got bigger problems to deal with! And sadly, the only person I know at work who knows what it is is a fellow physician.
Thanks for entertaining thoughts of a goodwill gesture, but everyone else in line has their hearts set on the watch too!

Thank you, OP, for your tireless service. The stress on the frontline was and still is immense. I was on the Covid patient intubating team at our hospital. I also lost a cousin to this virus, so I understand the toll.

However, you say you have been a huge fan of Snoopy and Omega watch for years along with your child. Then, after the 45th, you must have known the hype, as I did as a fellow Snoopy fan. Why didn’t you move on it earlier?

Knowing the 50th anniversary was around the corner, I approached an OB with no prior history and inquired back in the fall of 2019 about Apollo 13/Snoopy 50th. They called me at the beginning of December 2019 and asked if I was interested in placing a full price deposit. I immediately said yes and sent them the deposit. Now, more than 13 months later, they tell me they still don’t know when I’ll get mine. I wasn’t even number one at my boutique and keep getting pushed down the list for VIP or whoever Omega HQ deems worthy.

Yeah, it’s a long time to have given them a 10k interest free loan, but I’m a fan and willing to wait. Paid for it sight unseen, 11 months before the October 2020 reveal.

Anyway, I understand your frustration, but we all knew the demand was going to outweigh any supply since even the 45th came out. My advice, if your heart is set on this one at MSRP, speak to your OB salesperson and let them know you want to know as soon as the lists open up again. Although officially the list is closed, many salespeople are keeping their own private lists to call as soon as it opens again.

Good luck and keep up the vital work you do.

Hah! Good on ya.

I wear my Seamaster pretty much exclusively now, after having my Speedy magnetized a few times. We've also been working long hours as the vax distribution screwups multiply, but here's hoping.

I am now looking seriously at one of the new 3861s should the Snoopy not arrive. The antimagnetic properties are intriguing, as is the cleaner overall looks. But we'll see. Stay safe, and stay hopeful.

That is exactly what happened to me but with a new Rolex. I want to be able to pay my money and get the watch that I want and not pay double the rrp for a used one. I would buy another watch. I’ve been looking at a jaeger lecoultre memovox Polaris GT. they had a gorgeous one on hodinkee but missed out.

I sympathize, but you waited until you got your end of year bonus and expected a watch to be available at a boutique where you haven’t done business. That’s just not realistic. It may be the case that it’s overhyped and they will eventually become more easily available..... but if a boutique has lists of clients that have bought multiple watches and placed deposits Oct 5 and before... can you really argue with them selling them to preferred clients who placed first deposits. They are a business and they make a living off of these clients that have bought watches to support them.

They did their best here. Lots of advanced warning of the release date, and they haven’t made it a limited edition.

I rather thought that was the OP's point?

I am very sympathetic, but the OP said the process was turning him away from Omega. My point was that you can’t blame Omega for this. ... and you can’t really be surprised that there is hype based on the prices for the 45th Snoopy. I personally think Omega made both an epic watch and are distributing it as fairly as they possibly can in the circumstances. The boutiques have customers that placed deposits Oct 5 or earlier, and have previously purchased watches. I sincerely hope OP gets a watch and I hope everyone that wants one gets one.
