This guy always unearths the beauties! 😁

Overall, the watch is in good condition. The original dial shows intact enamel and a strong patina throughout.

Looks like some of the earth is still on the watch.

In my opinion a frankenwatch too. The dial doesn't belong in a 2451 but in an earlier ref 2279. The 2451 is a 321 and a 2279 is a 27CHROC12...basically an early 321

Here both ref's....but then in correct form 🙄

2279 with the same dial as the Shuck the Oyster watch

2451 ( mine is actually a 174-3, this reference oddly enough can have either case ref.)

Edit* And just looking a little more at the Shuck watch I'd say the 93 million movement has also likely not started life in that case. The movement is probably more early 40's and coherent with the dial which is from this period and the case I'd expect a 10 millionish serial as this ref is from 1946 and later

Whatever it is, as noted by Ron our Franophone contributor above, it sure ain't a Seamaster.

Was this the guy selling the paperclip spring Straight lug Speedy a while back? He is consistent at least if so.

Don’t think he was the seller of el paper clip. That was the other ‘oyster’.

He photography is excellent though and I’ll wager the watch looks nowhere near as nice in real life.

Your 2279 is fantastic, @cristos71 ! I see dozens of dials on model 2279 -- is there a name for this particular dial?

Any idea if Shuck's dial could be cleaned or is this deep corrosion? Interesting that Tachymetre, telemetre, and 1000 have windows of protection -- were these areas overcoated with something?

Well my 2279 has had a life alright since I've owned it...

The dial has enameled 'cartouches' or panels, call them what you like and why I really don't know, I guess they catch the light a little better but apart from that I'd say it was more likely just a dial designer's folly

That was "Lunar Oyster"

Fair to say if 'Oyster' is in their name it is best to avoid their questionable wares.
