My first watch, my grandma and I walked down to the local jeweler in a small town in Wisconsin in 1959 and she bought me this 31mm steel watch. She paid $17 for it (equivalent to $150 today). I have never lost track of it in all those years even though I've made countless moves all over the world. Other than the band it is still all original and still works. Having a 'Cadillac' watch when you were a kid was something pretty unique.

Amazing watches here! 👍

2846 - Cal 501

I love how the dial changes colour depending on the day light or the lamp inside a room. The golden furniture also shines through and it is just beautiful.

New addition for me, back today from service. Unpolished ‘big logo case back’ Seamaster, such a nice watch and what a stunning dial

I seem to have an ongoing fondness for these 2576s, plus I'm a sucker for honeycomb dials.

Great thread. My current grail is Connie w Arabic quarters in gold . However any watch w solid applied gold indices and steel is great. Gilt or foil doesn’t do it for me

Thank you !
You are almost right ! They are Lip R25 . This movement came previously the R23 and have the small second at 6 . These where very popular in France and very well built, I got a couple with military design too .
2 in the picture are rare jumbo 38,5 mm steel case and 20mm strap, I like them as much as my Omega(s) , (for a fraction of the price !)

Nice! And I agree both movements have very good reputation, and as you point out, you can find nice watches for very competitive prices.

I have been lurking around to Lip watches in the past months but need to pay a bit more attention to them. Some dials are quite stunning.

WTF! How? 😕
Flea market find a couple years back. Replaced crystal, stem and crown....cleaned and serviced. Good looking watch, IMHO. Great timekeeper.

On of my favourite watches

That is one of my favorite watches too. I would dibs it, but I don't think you'll ever sell it. That, and I have see what you are asking for a beat up old Seiko.
