·I've owned several Daytonas, from 1964 to mid 90s to early 2000s and now a 1978 Big Red. I loved my first one, EP 1997 white dial, but it was never quite right, and neither were any of the others...until the 6263 big red, sigma black. As I look at the 6263 on my wrist, it becomes clear: I never liked the large, shiny bezels. I had fallen in love with Daytonas while in the service in the mid 80s, a few years before the modern style with large, clunky jewelry-like bezels. It was the black bezel all along. The difference between a 6263 with the black bezel and a modern Daytona is massive in terms of aesthetics. Anyway, I finally have a Daytona I love.
