I know one of the pleasures of this forum is to show off the prizes of our collections, but I want to remember the humble Casio. Most of us have one somewhere, or have had one at some point. I know there are many G-Shocks around here. A Casio is often the gateway drug that leads to the money drain that we call watch collecting, so let's celebrate 'em. I guess I picked up this one 20 to 25 years ago. Long before my interest in collecting. I needed something suitable for travel, including skiing and cycling, that wasn't likely to be wrenched off my wrist at knifepoint and that I wouldn't miss if I accidentally left it in the scanning tray at the airport. It's still my go to for travel or when I'm working in the garden or DIY, and I've grown to rather love it. I present to you My Casio HDC 600. Thank goodness I still have the manual because for the life of me I'd still have no clue as to how to adjust it otherwise. Photo taken about 30 minutes ago - not deliberately set to 10:10!
This is my gf`s Casio world timer AW-80 on a Citizen strap as the old on broke. Sadly it gave up life shortly after a battery change, I will try to resurrect it again. Anyways I was watching this David Attenborough clip and guess what kind of watch he is wearing? Of course this legend of a man was wearing a Casio AW-80! It has to be, look at 3.01 in the clip.
My go-to beater watch. Bought for $27 about 12 years ago. Been to hell and back. Replaced the band once because it ripped in half. Wears smaller than a G-Shock. Dual time zone and alarm is great for travel plus nobody will try to steal it. Great watch.
Back in May 2022 I got an MDV-106A as a 25th work anniversary gift from my employer (there's a catalog of things you can pick, and to make a long story short that's what I picked). Prior to that for a lot of years I went through I think 3 Wave Ceptors, the last of which added solar so I never had to change the battery. Here's the 2 of them together.
