I've read many threads from those seeking opinions on potential vintage watch purchases and every one of the replies where a redial is present has been described as an awful or terrible redial.

I'm interested in seeing examples of what are considered quality redials.

I'm also interested in which rare watch examples collectors would consider a redial acceptable.

    Thanks in advance.

I just checked my calendar, so this is not an early April fools joke, right?

Rigid, Hardcore Collectors abound around this neck o’ the woods.

Really helpful. Thanks. Does hardcore collectors equate to inability to discuss issues that might be distasteful to them? I've read in this forum that even collectors find redials acceptable in the instance of rare watches.

From my point of view it was a good job. Sold the watch because of the size, but the dial job was great.

Very classy looking. Are the numerals lumed as well as the hands?

I'm still interested in which rare Omegas collectors find redials to be acceptable. In my first post to this forum I showed a 1950s 504 calibre which i was informed was not considered collectible because of the redial. It's my understanding there were only 25000 of these watches made, which I would consider rare when it comes to watches, which were often produced in the millions. Maybe I'm incorrect on the 25000 production number? Or is the 504 just not considered a desirable calibre among collectors?

Nice. I'll bet it looked sweet in the dark.

Omega, JLC, VC, PP do superb redials. They are clearly in a separate class from other sources IMO. That said, a re-dial should never be sold as an original watch.

It depands on what YOU want. I do not like heavy patina. So if I buy a watch with patina, I have a look at the price and the redial costs. If it is ok for me, I'll do so.

I prefer non redial watches, but it is not possible to find in every case what you want.

When I sold the one above shown watch, I told the buyer that it is a redial. He loved the dial so he bought the watch.

There are collectors who want only originals, and those who want "perfect" looking vintages

I totally agree with your comment concerning open disclosure of a redial. I really don't understand those who try to deceive buyers by hiding such a fact either by not disclosing or out-and-out lying about originality. As SwissMe astutely pointed out, there are buyers for both types of vintage watches.

Here is a case of a modern redial that is acceptable versus an older redial that looks like it was drawn by a monkey. New lume as well (why didn't they match the numbers and the hands? I don't know!).

Factory redial is always preferred, in my opinion.

Yes, Tom. I'm beginning to see the differences in quality of the various redials after looking at a number of different examples in the bad redial sub forum, as well as posts by others seeking opinions on various examples.
