The 36mm two tone quartz variant was the watch that started my love for Omega watches, so they hold a very special place in my heart. I ultimately decided to let go of the 36mm in favour of the full size model, which to this day still is my absolute favourite watch in my collection.

I purchased the watch in pretty worn condition in november last year as a bit of a project. I had the original case swapped out by a nos replacement part, and the original 1438 by a nos 1441. This is the end result, the watch both looks and runs like new. I think all of these Pre Bonds are incredibly cool, especially because of the many different case backs, crowns, clasps and hands that were used during its runtime. I’m curious to see how those of you who own one of these are enjoying it thus far, looking forward to see your Pre Bonds in action!

I'd love to see them. I'm a Bond SMP devotee, but the pre-Bond Seamaster intrigues me.

10?? Goodness me that’s crazy, would you also happen to have one with a champagne dial? Haven’t seen one off those in full size automatic. looking forward to see them! 😊

Yeah, i went through a phase about pre-bond watches and i went a bit overboard. The full size automatics are the rarest ones, and they are so comfortable to wear, really thin and a normal size (for my 7.5" wrist anyway)

I will post better pics when i get a chance. One is in mint condition and the other ones are in great shape. It is hard to get a pre bond in good condition.

Mine is a little beat up, but I love my quartz pre-Bond Seamaster. It’s a go-to wear watch for me that I feel still looks great on the wrist.

I love the Pre-Bond but parts availability, or rather lack of, means that the majority you find today are knocked about. Very few are in the condition of the OP watch and I note that was as the result of a new case. Even the bezel has been unavailable now for many years as a separate part. The only solution to any major bezel or case damage is a new replacement full case at a 4 figure cost for the steel version. I shudder to think what the two tone, gold bezel version would cost, many multiples of the value of the watch probably. There are some excellent examples in this thread but go find one in the wild!

Just made an article about the Pre-Bond, with hopefully some useful information about them in there! Might be an interesting read for the fans.

nice article. i love the pre bond ones. I have to agree with some of the comments that a lot of them are in rough shape but if you wait you can find some examples in good condition. I own around 10 of them and they are all in great shape, especially the automatic full size ones (I have 4 of those). It is refreshing to see articles on those watches as i believe they are underrated.

Thank you for your kind words! Awesome you have 10 of them!! I have found them to be pretty easy to find in good condition. Dial is often good and hands have some lumerot, bracelet is almost always good. It's just that you need a nice bezel insert!
