Should I trade my Omega for an Omega bought via Jomashop?

Here's how I look at buying a new watch from a grey market dealer vs. an AD. First, I feel the chances of something going wrong with a brand new Omega is very small. It happens, but it's relatively rare. Second, you're likely to save enough money buying grey market to more than cover the cost of a service if something does go wrong with the watch.

I recently purchased a new Speedmaster from Chitownwatch.com, and couldn't be happier. JMHO.

I completely agree with your assessment!

I just bought my PO from Authentic watches with no issues. The watch shows up at my front door 11 hours after I submitted my payment.

However the risk you are taking is you will not have OMEGA warranty and for me that is worth the difference in price.I think grey market D is fine. I will buy from them again. I also read some bad experience as well if you got a defect product.

This is the major risk going with someone like Jomashop whom I have had the misfortune of experiencing their practice first hand. Their tactics on the backside of a purchase are nothing shy of shady with a good helping of incompetence. Ergo, I will never even consider another purchase from that outfit.

You have other watch sellers whom work their proverbial butts off, care greatly about their reputation, and do everything they can to ensure they leave a customer happy. To me personally, that is worth a couple hundred bucks more on a purchase. On top of which, you can easily find many sellers that will provide the watch BNIB with the intact Omega warranty at close to or identical prices. Put those things together and it's a no brainer for my purchase decision making. Ergo, if I am not buying from my AD, I go with one of them...and I have repeatedly.

Just purchase a watch today from dealer in this forum. 馃榾 Await the watch but so far so good. This seller section forum is also a good option.

Jomashop provides their own warranty that can be transfered to you by the seller. They MAY chaege a small fee for the warranty transfer.

Other than that their prodicts are the real deal and in my experience a good buy.

If and when you flip the watch your sale value will suffer slightly because you dont have a factory Omega warranty but rather a third party.

If you flip it after the warranty period 3 or 4 years,? Not sure) is over, the value will be the same as if bought from amd AD

Personally i think the FOIS is one of the nicest modern versions of the Speedy.

What about Authentic Watches, Prestige Time, Chrono24, or Bernard Watch? Recommendations?
These are not apple to apple sources.

Chrono24 is not a fray seller, its a selling platform or open market.

AuthenticWatches, Swisslixury, jazztime and Jomashop are your primary gray internet dealers. Of those the only one i stir clear from is JazzTime. Indont know anything from Prestige or Bernard

I've purchased from Jomashop with no issues. There is no official Omega warranty card--Jomashop keeps it and swaps it out with theirs. The Jomashop warranty is pretty worthless. However, I usually go into it with that understanding. It's a question of savings. If the savings are significantly greater than th cost of paying for service or repairs (if something should go wrong with the watch) then I would do it. As someone else noted, once the watch is outside its warranty period, a watch with the warranty isn't any more valuable to a watch without one (to me, at least). It also depends on the complexity of the watch. A watch with more complications has more chances to malfunction; a warranty would provide some peace of mind. My personal rule is the savings must be 2.5 times greater than Omega's published price list for a full overhaul. That accounts for complete movement service plus some extra parts. Not a perfect rule, but a decent yard stick.

I agree with this. For some brands, the money you save from purchasing gray market will barely even cover a service -- Rolex is a good example. If you're only saving $1000 over retail, then in that case you might as well just purchase from an AD. But if you're saving $2000+ over retail (which is often the case with brands like Omega), gray market is the way to go. Even in the unlikely event that something does happen during the warranty period, you've still saved a ton of money by going that route.

Of course if you use the watch sales forums here you can get the best of both worlds: gray market price and a manufacturer warranty! I would only use Jomashop over that if I was looking for a specific watch that the dealers here don't usually carry. For modern Omega, this is the place to buy IMO.

I bought a Speedy on Joma a few months ago and when it arrived there was a nick INSIDE the hesalite. I emailed them explaining the issue and they told me to send them photos, to which I did within minutes of receiving the email. They've since ignored all my emails about the problem.

....some warranty....

That being said, I've ordered from AuthenticWatches.com before and they were fantastic. Calling me throughout the ordering/shipping process making sure I'm ok and that I'm excited, etc. - great company.

Warranty tranaferrence shouldn't even be a discussion point for Grey Market purchases. You go GM for the steep discount which should outweigh the cost of having to send it in for a full cost service (and refresh of factory warranty).

I would never use a GM dealer's warranty. Who knows where they get their watches serviced. Not worth the risk.

That said, Jomashop is one of the more reputable GM dealers. Serial Numbers always intact in my experience.

One minor issue I had with Joma was this: They put the watch I bought from them on sale the day after I bought it. $200. cheaper.
I called about it and their response was: Too bad
When I said fine then I want to return it, their response was "10% restocking fee"

I traded my IWC chrono under AD warranty for a PO 8500 from Jomashop. SO I guess the answer to your question is yes.
What model IWC did you trade?
