Hello, I recently bought a 105.012-65 Speedmaster, it is very nice, bracelet No.12 and now both 47 endlinks (just bought one that was missing), original box. It needs service and I will take it to Omega Service Center. I will ask not to change hands, dial and other pieces. I’m not sure about polishing case and bracelet. What would you do, polish o not?
No NO NO. Really. This was an easy question. Not a close call. Anyone who disagrees will be reported to the moderators!
Polishing will remove metal from the case and bracelet. Even if the case and bracelet are scratched, an unpolished watch will be more valuable than a polished one. P.S. Nice watch you have there!
Hi, I suggest you to don't polish it. It looks great as it is. Especially in an Omega official Service Center, it would be risky also if you ask to leave the original parts. I would totally keep it as it is
The bezel is the original one, former owner told me he never changed anything. Do you believe bezel was changed?
That is not the correct bezel. It has at some point been changed, could be at a service any time from 1970 onwards that it was changed. It should be a DON, here is my 105.012-65 with its original bezel:
Condition, condition, condition = Price, price, price. None cheap Well worth your time, effort and money.
There are several for sale in the "Watch Parts and Accecories For Sale" section here. I would guess that a DON matching the condition of your watch to be in the vicinity of $2500, +/- $500... Prices for these bezels are pretty much at an all-time high, but who knows what we will think of these prices in a few years from now.
Bezel is wrong, 300% Here is one : https://omegaforums.net/threads/very-nice-speedmaster-don-updated-price-3-1k.87734/ Hands might be replaced. Can't say anything about the crown without the right photo. Don't change anything except for tritium hands and DON bezel. Don't polish it. If not, sell it now!
For sure I will not polish it, how can I check if hands are Tritium or were replaced? What do you mean with “if not, sell it now!”?
A lovely video of Omega service with polishing: https://www.facebook.com/WatchTimeAssistenciaTecnica/videos/574570943003464/ Those are scars on your watch and they tell the story, keep them and add some more.
