Setting the date assistance needed

Received this very crisp 1960’s day date Austin running an AS 1885 movement (I believe). The crown only pulls out to one stop. I can set the day manually by advancing the hands. However, I’ve yet to find the appropriate information on the web on how to set the date. I know there has to be some experts on here who has the knowledge to do this. I’m missing something probably simple, but I’m missing it nonetheless. Can someone assist? Thanks!

Did you try going back and forth around midnight?

Weirdest thing…day changes but the date stays the same even though a window rolls over the date window with that method.

Try pushing the crown in to see if it has quick set.

No joy with that either. Thanks for the suggestion.

What if you go between 9pm and 2am, does that change anything? It's possible that the trigger point for the day and date are different.

I think you need to go back farther to 8 o’clock. Then the date will advance but the day will not. This will allow you to advance the date independently

I have a couple of watches with this movement date day set, you need a few minutes to set it up correctly but this is common on a lot of earlier days date movements. Enjoy.
