When we were living in NYC (without a car) we'd see nearly an entire block of upper West Side cars parked inches, or less, from each other. A couple weeks ago while in Europe, my wife and I were enjoying the street parking... at least three feet seperated the cars along the curb.

We have always been very picky about where we park, even in a hire car.
