Hi all,

I have my fathers Geneve 136.070 (thats the model number that i have found most closely matches the watch from internet search research and looking at pictures of similar watches) - it is in pretty good condition as it sat in a draw for the majority of the last 50 years or so, but I was looking to use it as my dress watch and want to get it serviced - where would people recommend would be best to service (in the UK) a vintage Omega Geneve and also any idea of rough cost - thanks in advance.

Hi,

I’ve heard Simon Freese Watchmakers or Swiss Time Services are the way to go for vintage Omegas in the UK.

Not sure about pricing as I’m on the other side of the world, sorry!

Hi DNX,

By coincidence I just finished servicing my own 136.070. A really lovely model.

Mine has a beautiful sunburst silver dial - but has a very slight champagne tint to it. I'll post a few pics later (I am at work right now). Would love to see some pictures of yours.

Best of luck with the service.

I am really enamored with mine - and it has no sentimental value.

This is my 136.070, with a 613 movement. I’ll pm you with details of where I go in the UK.

I’ll look forward to a photo. Now that I’m retired, I think I might get more wear out of a stainless steel model.

Here is a pic from today - wore it to work...
BTW - I talked to Archer about the crystal on this. It is genuine Omega - but the date magnifier is not correct for this model.
Having said that - I really like a date magnifier. It's very helpful with my eyesight.

I know this silicone strap looks a little odd. But I really like the way the color brings out the champagne tone in the dial. I have a ColaReb suede/leather strap in "swamp" that I believe with do the same, but look more mature.

And a few pics from the disassembly. This watch was really clean to begin with. Definitely worn - but in really nice condition inside and out. At least to me.

The only mark on this dial that's not supposed to be there is the little dark nick above and to the right of the 6:00 marker. Everything you see in the picture is dust or lint/fiber.

Pretty interesting date corrector on the 613.

That's in lovely condition - I’m tempted to give mine a bit more wrist time 😀

Mine has a couple of dial blemishes, fading around the '9' indices and the centre.

Thanks for showing us.
