Servicing experience via AD

Hi
First post here, looks like a great forum!

I just got my Planet Ocean back from the AD having been away for 5 months (seriously Omega?!)

anyhow, it comes back in a nice red travel box, looking great, but with a big bag of parts. The seals I expected, but they also changed the main spring, hands and date wheel as well as the crown and helium valve. None of this was requested and the watch was in perfect working order, or seemed to be, when it was sent ie it was a service not a repair.

Is this normal? My concern is that if I did this every 5 years as asked, the watch might end up like Trigger’s broom.

For those not familiar with this expression:

All normal, nothing to worry about. If they felt something needed to be replaced they do it. Enjoy your time with the watch!

Just to add to @chrisb732, heliumvalve and crown have gaskets which are timeconsuming/impossible to replace so it's normal you get new ones.

I just want to say that clip was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh! I’m more familiar with The Ship of Theseus.

As the others said. Totally normal. Especially on something like the PO new crown and HEV to ensure the water resistance. New mainspring every service is standard.

If you look at the service description they will replace those items for you included in the cost. And the time is always that long. I had a seamaster in for a date change issue where the date wouldn’t change. They replaced one gear Ina. Total of 3 weeks. I have a speed master moonphase that is going on 4 months with no updates for completion. And it had to do to Switzerland for the service. They are hit or miss with the times

There's an "it is the same boat" meme in here somewhere

Presume judging by the clip you're UK based, and it went to Southampton? I only got hands and crowns back, no main spring, and never ever had datewheel back. Wonder what that's all about, but wouldn't knock it, Anything you can get out of them is a plus. Only complaint is it never comes back running as good as when it left. Both returns were because the crown came off and forces a service.

Hi, I am in the UK, but have no idea where it went.
I have to say that I did not check out what would be done in the service first, but now I have seen the video below, it does seem like excellent value and effectively gives a 2 year limited warranty as well. One big mistake I made was handing in the watch with a NATO strap on, as I have missed out on getting the bracelet serviced and polished…

Excellent value, you sure it went to OMEGA? 😎
Yeh, that is a shame, they do come up really nicely when polished,
