What do you guys do when it comes to servicing your speedy? Omega or local experienced watchmaker?

I’ve done both. The 861 / 1861 movement can be serviced by any competent watchmaker. Omega will generally replace more parts as a matter of course (perhaps to the detriment of a vintage watch), but will offer a 2-year warranty. An independent will likely charge less. For a “non-collectable” watch I’d probably opt for Omega.

Always ask if your repairer has an Omega parts account, otherwise how is he going to get the parts that need replacing? A lot of guys will tell you they can fix it, and then jury rig something because they can't get the new parts.

Wes Grau Cornerstone Service Center in the north suburbs of Chicago. He is as honest as the day is long and is a perfectionist. Took my 2019 Speedy from +14 sec a day to spot on. There isn’t a watch he can’t fix. He is full service and can do overhauls on anything.

I’m glad you got good service from him. I did not. Three watches, three issues.

I had work done on my co-axial Speedmaster at my local Omega Boutique. They honored the warranty and did my repairs for the cost of a few parts that had been damaged.

I go with an independent , just like my other watches. Somehow the official Servicers are way more expensive where I’m at
