I am thinking of getting complete overhaul , replace the crystal and polish it Can you please let me know if there are any new Watch Guys in New Jersey i only remember Steve
Totally agree. Refrain from polishing, it can't be undone, and it's what makes watches like this one really unique, is when they are untouched
Especially with that bracelet its sharp edges are what makes it so cool, clean only as the others suggested IMO
Thanks guys i will take your word... Will try to clean it with some natural soap... Fortunately I never had to clean any watches before .... What you guys use for cleaning? Any specific cloths or liquids. I just want to clean the band and Head and replace the crystal... i am not touching the Dial
Best cleaning method is a watchmaker, stretch links in particular can get full of wrist snot and black slime
Disagree, Service the watch and leave that as is but have the centre links of the bracelet lightly brushed to bring back the original look which is polished outer links brushed centre. The contrast between the polished and brushed on the bracelet gives a much better and also much subtler look when on the wrist.
Would you post a pic in natural light? I suspect the outer links would have to be very lightly polished to bring back their original luster and contrast with the center links..
Here´s mine and what I above suggested is exactly as I have done myself. It is still tricky to capture in an image but I think in the image below it can be best seen, especially the clasp area.
He´s in The Netherlands, but I´m sure any of the watchmakers here who are US based and who do work on the flatlink bracelets could do an equally good job for you.
Actually the more i look at it the more i felt it doesn't need any polishing. Gave the watch for complete overhaul and cleaning. Hopefully the results are good enough i dont have to touch the finish of the bracelet.
The flat link 18k 7077 bracelet I sold to JM251 was polished. The head of the watch was definitely not. I fully agree with Cristos7. Leave the watch head alone, but polish the band. My jeweler has a watchmaker who is a perfectionist, and he polished the band to look like new. it does not diminish the value of the band, and it looks much nicer. It must be polished like Cristos71 mentioned with the end links shiny and the middle brushed.
