Hello all you Omega experts! I am a new Omega owner and have been finding it hard not to just sit and stare at my new Speedy "TinTin". I noticed recently a serial number on the band. Are the bands and watches all able to be tracked together for continuity? Also, how are the watch serial numbers broken down and why do I see everyone use an "x" for the last couple numbers of their watch?
"Hidden" extender or Horological Institute of Japan? I am leaning toward the former since the watch is Swiss.
For the same reason your credit card company Xs out the last digits of your card number. Because it could be considered as personal information, and because fraudsters may try to copy the serial number.
Bracelets are not tracked with watches as far as anyone knows. Omega might have that information in house on the watches made over the last few years, but no one has heard of that information, and at this time no one cares about bracelet being the one shipped with the watch, just that it is correct.
