I get to work and look at my watch and my crown is missing, imagine my shock. So I look in my pockets, all around the ground and trace my steps back to my parking spot, making sure to take the same elevator and carefully inspecting the spot where I tied my shoe to no avail. I place my call to RSC but they aren't open yet. So I make my way home over lunch and thankfully it is right there on the bedroom floor. Call RSC again...closed at noon for xmas party.

I get through on Monday and explain the situation to her. She says I'll send you a service box return it to us with watch and warranty card and I explain to her I bought the watch used and it was purchased new 9 months earlier, It is dealer stamped, signed and dated. She said no problem and that I can send a copy with sales receipt if I'd like. I opted to send the copy. That following Saturday the service box arrived. I waited for 2 weeks to send it since they were closed for the holidays.

Along with this box there was shipping tape and the following instructions:

I shipped it on a Thursday which was just shy of 40.00 for registered, 8100.00 declared value and priority. It arrived the following Monday. I receive email conformation of its arrival from Rolex and a note stating that someone will contact me in 3 days.

That Thursday I received a call and email with the evaluation. They are going to replace the crown and do a partial intervention which from my understanding is a full service without polish. It should take about 3 weeks and I would not be getting a service warranty since I have so much time left on factory. As expected.

So far I have nothing but good things to say about RSC Dallas. This process has been very easy and Rolex has provided me with superb customer service.

Hope this helps and I'll post an update when I get her back in my hands.

Surprised they don't prepay shipping with the amount they charge for service...

Good to hear. I had a 0.9x magnification on my 216570 cyclops. They handled it under warranty without a fuss.

I find it very interesting that the Dallas address is on "Harwood". Rolex and the old Harwood Watch Company have somewhat of a history together.

During the promotion of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual, HARWOOD and Rolex exchanged correspondence about the identity of the inventor of the automatic winding system. An agreement was reached and Rolex changed its advertisement, as shown in the example below . A portrait of John Harwood was included in the Rolex advertisements. A sincere apology by Rolex in 1956 gave John Harwood full credit as the inventor of the world's first automatic wristwatch.

So Rolex is located on Harwood Street? Truth is stranger that fiction.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread...

I had a good experience as well with my Flat-4 Kermit after I bought it. Sent it in with strict instructions for service only, no polish, no cosmetic changes. Done exactly.

I too thought I had clicked on a horror servicing story, but am very happy to be wrong! Is it standard industry practice to honor new watch warranty even though the watch was bought used?

If it was bought from an official dealer and the warranty is still in effect then it will be serviced under warranty even if you are the second owner If it comes without signed and dated documentation then it isn't covered.

Before I bought the watch I had been hearing tales of Rolex changed their warranty, it's no longer transferable. So I called and asked. Rolex said that as long as it was purchased through an AD and had not been thru a reseller the warranty is still valid. But she did state that in the end it is up to the individual technician working on the watch.
So when I received the watch I called the boutique on the warranty card just to verify the purchase and the customer's name on the card wasn't a reseller/flipper. Verified the sale via the SN and the name matched the card.

I bought both Tudors from an authorized dealer new in San Diego (GMT & BB divers watch) after the second time coming back from
NY service centre from the calendar sticking to gaining 5-6 seconds a day. before the problem the time was less than 2 seconds i
said that does it. i better get rid of it now or i never will get anything for it. i bought a 2015 GMT II. then my BB started gaining time.
so this past weekend it went to Dallas for an adjustment.
Rolex has been on my wrist for over 50 yrs. i'm a Rolex boy. just very disappointed with Tudor. i can understand one of my new
watches, however, both acting up.

That’s great that they send a box to ship it to them in. The last time I sent a watch to the rsc, they didn’t provide a box, but it was the same procedure. Need to call them tomorrow, my brothers white Gmt needs service. Great photo instructions!

Making the warranty transferable would be the least they can do, since they're forcing their steel model sport watch customers to each buy a couple of less popular models that they'll just flip...

We hear far to often tales of doom and gloom about service centres, 'never send it here' or 'never send it there', 'terrible workmanship', etc etc., so it is very refreshing to hear a good story about a service centre.

Delighted that your pride and joy is now back working and that Rolex have looked after you.
