Hi all, first time poster here. I have a small collection. Omega Seamaster 2264.50 quartz. An Oris Aquis, and a Seiko dress watch. I just started getting into watches. The Oris was my first automatic watch. Then came the Omega which I love the style, and just overall love the watch. The watch I really want is the Omega Speedmaster Professional. Right now I do not have funds to outright purchase one while keeping my others (just got married, saving for house). I could sell all 3 and come up with the additional funds to buy a speedy pro. Is the Omega 2264.50 a good enough watch I should hold on to it, and just keep saving up. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Tough call. Personally, I'd have a hard time letting go of the Oris, just because it was your first. The question becomes one of how badly you want the Speedy. Only you can answer that. But that's not why you're here. So, if it were me, I'd set up my saving for Speedy budget, the Seiko would get sold first. Then I'd figure out how far out I am from my goal and how quickly I wanted to achieve it. If I had to let another watch go, I'd part with the Seamaster. Reassess. Oris last, because I'm sentimental. Just my $0.02cdn

while you never forget your "first", it is seldom the "best". Leaving the lovely memory in the past for bigger and better opportunities is the way to go. Less is more. 1 great watch is better than 3 middling ones.

The Omega you have is good enough... what ever that means.

Heck the right 300 dollar Seiko from the late 60’s will get more attention then a new Patek here.

What’s important is you have what you want.

Or look at it this way... if a quartz omega is good enough for a Prince of England it’s good enough for anyone ;)

My mechanical watch collection started with entry-price models and I've kept them as higher priced ones joined them in the watch box. I bought them originally because I liked them, and I still wear them.

Wait until you can add to the collection, wearing the same watch every day wouldn't be nearly as much fun as being able to rotate.

Hahaha! .... and chime in I will.

@taxman1985 - A single watch, particularly one as boring as a Speedmaster, will not satisfy you after the newness wears off. If you really love your quartz (aaaahhh!) Seamaster, hold on to it and just keep saving for the Speedmaster. I say this (a) from experience selling off to constantly upgrade and (b) because I don't think you'll get very much money for the 3 watches you'd be selling.

I doubt Dilip or Sanjiv want to know you think so little of them. :( ( :p )

@taxman1985 , bear in mind the squirrel is our resident pot-stirrer and Speedy hater.

I think you may regret letting the 2264 go, if it was a 2254 I would say you were mad but if that is the only way to get your Speedy then so be it.

You gotta get your facts straight, my man. I don't hate the Speedmaster. I don't like it either. It's just another plain chronograph. What I hate is the brainwashed worship of the Fan Boys. EVERYTHING in their life is about the Speedmaster and space EVERY WAKING SECOND of the day. They're the watch world's religious fanatics.

Haters gonna hate. ;). Seriously though, the 2254/64 are a bit special. Let either go at your peril...

I am so pleased that the 2254 gets the love it deserves. I really think its a modern classic and Omega dropped the ball when they moved away from it being the face of the Seamaster

The more I think about it, if I was you I would upgrade the 2264 to a 2254 first. Then start saving for a Speedmaster. You might as well keep the Oris and Seiko as the return will be modest and you may regret letting go of your "first"

Cut from the same cloth. Opposite side of the same coin. Use any cliché you wish.

Fancy classy watches that Victoria's Secret models and Hawaiian Tropic Girls dig. ;)
