    Hello everyone,
I'd like to ask you an advice, I'm considering selling my straight writing from 73, it's in a real great shape for a 145.012 from 68.
You can find a couple of picture attached. How much do you think would be the difference in price? Do you think could be a good idea? I love my piece my I'd rather have a 361 on my wrist.
The 145.012-67 is described as chestnut "tropical" dial, I can't see a proper tropical dial though.
    Thank you very much

If you’re thinking of winning that one coming up at Phillips, most likely you’ll need to sell several Straight Writing Speedies to cover the delta...

How much do you think is going to be the hammer price?

Probably too high than it should be.
But with auctions you never know really. Could also end up selling “cheap”

I've more picture of the watch but I'm not sure that it could be classified as tropical, the caseback is not at his best

The dial is not tropical....it looks like it is a bit grey and not totally black, but not brown.
Unless the tropical definition extends to any change of color in the dial....

To my eye there several other issues with this watch that would keep me from buying it...
But since I have not seen it in person (or detailed pictures) I am reserving my judgement at this point.

I really don’t trust Phillips now especially after that Blue speedy incident. What was the conclusion of that event by the way?

I have only seen 2 pictures of the watch, so it will be unfair to criticize it without 100% certainty.
Maybe if @Tizius has a few more pictures that he could share, then I could get a better idea.

To me it looks like a new relume has been made on the 145.012 watch. I suspect some other things as well but not sure with just those pictures.

Yes, new lume. The pushers are new and I think I see a light polish has been made to the case. Hard to make a judgement on the crown, looks like older than the pushers but can't see if it correct or not. Good sharp caseback.

The lower auction estimate of 8,000 CHF/ USD is for me too high, remember that hammer fee and VAT is added on top of this.

    No, it is not tropical.

Would love to know more about this incident. Is there a thread that you can refer to?

Ok, the watch had papers that were older than the production date. And the previous owner did not have any papers. Seems like Phillips missed to see this detail. I do not trust any auction house in the first place and you should always do your own due diligence before bidding.
