I had a 1 owner Doxa with boxes and booklets that I sold in 2007...dont miss too much.

The only watch I missed was my first 5513...it wasn't that great, but was a sweet piece.

I know the feeling! I don't think there is a watch I've sold that I don't regret, my speedmasters especially, I've had 2-3 of various vintages and a couple of the reduced ones. The next Speedy won't get sold.

If I could keep them all I would, but I usually only sell a watch to buy another one and that helps ease the pain.

I regret selling my Carrera 3647T when I did, though I don't really miss the watch (it is very very cool, but I just don't enjoy wearing small silver dial watches) but it went up 50% or more in value just months after I sold it. I feel like anyone who sold a Heuer before the middle of last year is pretty disappointed

That was a nice one - reliable ETA 2472 inside. The modern incarnation of Doxa doesn't want a lot to do with these (ands they don't have case parts for them), so I've serviced a bunch of them. Had to fabricate some click springs for them from scratch, etc. so they present some challenges, but there are a lot of Dirk Pitt fans out there that love them!

I love the look of the Doxa especially their chronograph and have read Dirk Pitt since I was a lad, sadly when I was looking at picking up a Doxa everywhere I looked and everyone I talked to said not to, that the current quality isn't there and that their customer service is among the worst ;-( so I gave up on that hunt.

I've serviced even more of the modern versions, and I would agree that the quality of workmanship is lacking - I had several of one model (750T)come in the with broken stems. It was all due to the assembler not paying attention when clamping the movement in the case, so the hole in the movement for the winding stem was not aligned with the case tube on the case - this caused the stem to flex every time the watch was wound or set, and eventually it work hardened and snapped. Very simple thing to avoid,

But given a service by a good watchmaker, they can run very well. Most have ETA 2824-2's in them, but some 2892's, and now some apparently use Soprod movements. I would be careful of the chronographs as some have modular chronographs I believe - I would personally steer clear of those.

It's funny this gets posted because I just put my first watch purchase ever up for sale. It's my TAG F1 calibre 16, ETA 7750, movement. It's in perfect condition and am hesitant to sell it but i feel like I could put the money towards a globemaster or seamaster. I do wear it quite often, hope I don't miss it when it's gone.

Back in the 1990,s my wife found, what she thought was a fake Rolex in a antique store. Turned out to be a 1959 GMT 6542 Rolex with Bakelite. Bought it for $550 USD. Really didn't know what we had and sold it for $3000.::facepalm1::
