    Design aesthetics.

GS is great, but they only do one thing well - dress watch. Their sports watches just look like gaudier versions of their $400 counterparts over in the main catalog though, which is really too bad.

I’m still finding their design wanting. The big exception is the 9F special edition with the sapphire case back. Their dive watches are pretty cool.

Always have admired Seiko innovation and technology. The Swiss still can do a few things better...

Very interesting read. If they can create a movement like that, how can a stunning design not follow? Respect for tradition with a drive to push the boundaries. Not something to treat lightly.

If the Swiss are better at complacency then they may be in trouble.

It's a great looking device, with a different aesthetic to the fancy Swiss pieces.

It's really named "T.Ø."?? Those are my initials - guess that if it does come into production I will have to look into it :D

I'm not sure that was actual watch noise, sounded like sound track to me.

For watches and technology in general I agree. But I find this paradoxical in a way, since Japan has centuries worth of tradition of minimalistic design and typography greatness.

I mean, they know how to apply amazing aesthetics even to the contents of their lunchboxes, so why can't they translate that into equally stunning and distinctive watch designs?

Yes... according to this article. I have always considered the Black Forest area of Germany to be the cuckoo clock capital of the world and I still do, although there is one manufacturer in Switzerland near Zurich, however, the movement is made in Germany. Let's give the nod to the Swiss.

It may have been enhanced but that's the sound:
T0 is clearly characterized by its ticking sound. An escapement ticks eight times per second if a watch has 28,800 vibrations/hour. In the case of T0, the ticking sounds like a 16th note feel, accompanied by the impact sound of a constant-force every second.

To be sure: I think the GS Heritage line with the Hi-Beat movement is a lovely design - but they all look fairly similar and are too dressy to really be that versatile with different outfits and moods.
The sporty designs on the other hand seem nice enough, but then you see that 4 o'clock crown and wonder why you'd spend 20x over an SKX...

The only thing worse than a 4 o'clock crown is a 4 o'clock date window.
