For sale is my Seiko Sportsmatic Reference 15037D circa 1963. The reference itself is fairly rare, but I have never seen another with this particular dial/handset combo.

Many will no doubt see some similarities between this watch and the Universal Geneve Polerouters of the era. The crosshair dial is in excellent condition, as are the faceted and polished hands.

The stainless steel case is in good overall condition, retaining the original facets on the lugs... perhaps one or two light polishes over the years, but a nice, honest case overall.

The caseback inscriptions along the edges have worn down over time, but can still be made out at the right angle. I’ve included a picture in direct sun to give you an idea of what I mean.

The crystal is acrylic rather than the un-polishable Hardlex crystals that Seiko tended to use a little later on in the decade. It has some light marks here and there, but I’ve chosen not to polish them out.

The case is a nice, wearable size, coming in at 36.5mm across and 44mm lug-to-lug.

The sale is for the watch head only, but I can include the pictured strap (made by Ivan at Two Stitch Straps) if the buyer wishes.

I do not have pictures of the movement, and I’m wary to crack open the caseback, but I purchased this watch last year from a fellow trusted Seiko collector, who had a basic service performed on the watch before shipping it to me. The watch keeps good time, losing about 10 seconds per day, by my recent observations.

I have many positive references here on OF and on various other forums as well. The watch is located near Toronto, Canada and local meetups in the GTA are more than welcome. My price is $650 USD (to be paid in the Canadian dollar equivalent) and we can discuss splitting shipping costs, depending upon where you are located.

No returns offered and no warranty provided with regards to future performance of the movement.

Please don’t hesitate to dm me directly with questions or for additional pictures or videos.
