If Seiko comes up with a re-edition of this one, I'll buy one immediately. What a beauty! Thanks for posting
Got this last year from @eugeneandresson - like anything that he ever decides to let go, it's in fabulous condition. The bezel is simply unmarked, so clearly never used as dive watch (and thanks to that...)
Seiko 7001-8009. The military-style dial affords great legibility, which I value more and more over time.
I was doing some watch shopping online at some of the various sites we go to and found someone selling the regular sarb017 (I think that’s the #’s for the standard green alpanist. Not a limited one just the green DC’d one. Now I have one and really like it. Put it on an uncle seiko BOR looks great although I’m hunting around for a nicer leather band as I think leather brings out the dial a little better. Anyway this one was on its original seiko strap (which I have to say I thought was horrible. Anyway the seller was asking 999 usd. It was the only one on the site (smaller place than eBay) now I think I payed 340 bucks for mine. I know they have creeped up in value a bit but I think it was last month I saw some around 500 bucks but they all included a new bracelet of better band. That was just a seller misjudging the market I’m guessing or are people actually paying a grand for these things. The quick searches I did on a couple other watch sites had none of the sarb 017 I forgot to check eBay which probably would have answered my question quicker than the time I spent writing this.
