For sale is my Seiko 6309-7040 from August ‘79.

Dial, handset and bezel are all exceptional. The Water Resist text is a deep brick red with no detectable fade. The lume is clean and white, with no signs of moisture intrusion over the years.

The case is excellent overall. Nice, sharp edges with the original brushed finish in evidence. Light signs of careful wear and some marks on the backs of the lugs from past clumsy strap changes are all the case flaws that can be pointed out.

There are some light marks on the original crystal that are not noticeable on-wrist, so I choose not to replace it.

The watch was serviced late last year by Ashton Tracey (The Seikologist) in Ottawa, Ontario. The balance of Ashton’s two-year warranty remains. The watch is running beautifully and keeping great time.

The crown operation is as it should be, requiring a number of turns to screw down.

An interesting quirk of this watch is the caseback, which has a swirl pattern on the non-raised parts of the Tsunami logo (see the closeup pic below), most likely the result of a tooling error. It provides a sort of starry night look to the caseback and adds some interest to the watch. I’ve spent more than a few minutes trying to imagine how it might have happened

My price is $1500 Canadian Dollars, which is the equivalent of approx $1,150 USD and includes insured shipping to Canada or CONUS. I will ship overseas at the buyer’s expense. No returns.

Payment via PayPal F&F or TransferWise. I can provide multiple references from here on OF, as well as WUS, r/WatchExchange and private sales via Instagram The watch is located near Toronto, Canada and in-person transactions are always welcome.

Please feel free to DM with any questions or requests for additional pictures.

beautiful watch. I'd jump right on it if I wouldn't already own one.
They are hard to find in a condition like that!

Pretty fair deal all around. I’m going to guess the seller will regret this in a few years.

I’ve not seen a better one in awhile.

Nice! Glad to see these are finally seeing some appreciation, here's mine I bought new Fall '78 (6309-7049), a couple of bezel scratches otherwise like new. I'm in Montreal so might give your Ottawa contact a call, cheers.
