I know it's called "Omegaforums", but maybe there's some Seiko-love around here, too?

If there are any errors in my ad, please do let me know. While I did read into this specific reference on my hunt for one, I must admit that Seikos in general aren't my forte and I wouldn't want to misrepresent the watch in any way.

This 6138-8030 is my only Seiko, and I got it because of a personal connection to the model. I won't bother you with the full story, but bottom line is: This model was my dad's only ever "proper" watch, I figured a great example might make for a great gift, but while he appreciated the gesture, he doesnt wear watches anymore. It then spent a year or so in my drawer, and it's much too nice for that, so here goes...

The Watch

Seiko
Reference: 6138-8030, also referred to as "JPS", hinting at the John Player Special livery of old Lotus race cars.
Year: April 1977
Case: ca. 39mm, stainless steel
Dial: Original black dial, gold sub dials, English and German day and date
Strap: To be discussed, see below.

Condition

Very clean, ultra sharp. Frankly, I doubt there are many in better shape out there.

Dial & Hands: The completely original dial is in very good condition. It's a deep, matt black, contrasting the gold of the subdials and the day/date window. All the writing is there, crisp and clean, please see below for some close-ups. The lume has aged to a beautiful vanilla color and is fully present. Hands are black and white, as they should be.

Case: If there is anything on the watch that's even more spectacular than the dial it's the case. Due to a small but present ding it went to a case restorer specialized in Seikos who reapplied the original brushing style. Since then, it was worn not even a handful of times. The only and very minor wear I can find is on the case back, which retains its original brushing but shows some very small scratches/dings, I included pictures to show this. Lastly, there are some scratches that are only visible when the caseback is removed.

Crown & Pushers: Original and correct for the reference, in good condition.

Crystal: New Sternenkreuz crystal for this reference, great condition.

Movement: Original, clean, works great. I bought the watch as "running well, unserviced" and when I got it, I was surprised how well everything worked. It winds smoothly, day and date quickset work effortlessly, it was very precise and showed a high amplitude on the time grapher. So I spoke to the seller about it, who turned out to be a Seiko collector who does his own services, but doesn't advertise it as there's no receipt, of course. I haven't dismantled the piece to check how well he did, nor do I have any proof for that, of course. Please do believe me, though, that it's running very, very strongly.

Strap: While I took the pictures on that military green strap, I would prefer to keep it. I can offer a few other straps, including standard black leather. I will also include a matching two-tone steel bracelet, pictures of which will follow. If you're saying the green Torre strap must be part of the deal, though, I'm sure we can figure something out.

Seller Reviews

Plenty reviews available here, but either my username is too short to use the search function for that or I’m not handling the forum software eloquently enough, which is entirely possible. Anyway:
