The watch: I am offering an original SEIKO 5 SPORTS 70 mm Sport Diver, 6119-7160 from 1969, fully serviced by HCV Vintage Watches.
The watch is in excellent original condition purchased Aug 2021 from HCV Vintage, with full service Aug 15 2021 with NOS crystal installed. I have not worn the watch since owning it.
DIAL: Matte black in flawless condition, with large polished steel monument indices. Seiko 5 badge beneath SEIKO at top, SPORTS (in blue), Water70Proof, 21 Jewels and Suwa logo are all crisp and clear. Day/Date window 3:00 with polished steel frame.
HANDS: Block baton hour and minute hands, mirror finish. Black striping with lume at tips, excellent condition. Blaze orange sweep seconds hand, excellent contrast with black dial.
BEZEL: Interior rotating “count up” bezel with 10 min markers, clean writing, rotates freely in both directions as it should. Large lume pip at zero.
CASE: Stainless steel saucer-shaped tonneau case with original factory brushing, sharp factory case lines, no evidence of polishing. The watch is also known as “UFO” within this lineup due to its shape. 4:00 recessed crown, original, works well. Quickset works as it should.
CASE DIAMETER: 43 mm
CASE BACK: Cade screw down caseback in very good condition, no scratches, all text clear. Proof case.
MARKINGS/SERIAL NUMBER/DATE: 941850, dating watch to April 1969
MOVEMENT: 6119 reliable workhorse, recently serviced Aug 15, 2021, with functioning day/date quickset. Recent service by HCV Vintage with new gaskets- movement photo not available as opening watch may compromise seals. I have previously asked Seth Roberts at HCV if he would service watches that he sold, and he said yes, however I cannot guarantee this is still true. This watch will likely not need service for years, making it an even more attractive example.
TIMEKEEPING/OTHER FUNCTIONS: Keeps excellent vintage time. All functions working.
SERVICE HISTORY: Complete service Aug 2021 with NOS crystal replacement
BRACELET/STRAP: New Tropic style silicone strap, CNS Straps, 19 mm.
CRYSTAL: NOS replacement Aug 2021
ACCESSORIES: Watch and strap only.
Overall an excellent example of a nice Seiko 5 Sports 70 m Sports Diver from 1969, recently serviced and purchased from by a well known top Seiko watchmaker/dealer.
Asking Price: USD $400 net to me
All vintage watches should NOT be considered waterproof. The recently serviced watch is running well as it should on all functions at this time. No future warranty regarding Watch function is provided as this is a vintage watch. Sold as-is, No returns unless I have materially misrepresented the watch.
