Seeking info on this Speedmaster at a garage sale?

Seller is asking for $4,000 and I know nothing about speedmasters. He said something about it being an Apollo edition and has the original box, receipt, bracelet, and an extra long strap astronauts would wear them on? Obviously I couldn't get it open at the sale. SO i am hoping some experts here can shed some light. It has a plastic crystal.

What Apollo edition? That's a big catch. I feel it's just a vanilla 1861 speedmaster if you've posted the same watch in your photos here. And it's on higher side of asking price IMO.

That’s pretty beat up for a 10 year old or so watch. At from what I can extrapolate from the omega laser engraving on the caseback being that soft.


Hard pass at that price.

Apollo edition had engraving on the side. All speedies over the past few years came with a big box and the long Velcro strap.

nothing special.

Who sells $4,000 items at a garage sale? Agree with others, it's overpriced at that price due to its worn condition.

Agree with others, it looks like a standard Moonwatch, maybe the first to come with the big box, so not that old (though well used).

Not a bargain at all really. I'd want it at nearer $3K-3500. It may be more recent than some suppose though, I'd guess circa 2016/2017 based on the 78.75m serial and serials of other Speedies I have observed. If you are lucky it might not even need a service yet.

I would honestly toss a 2.5k cash in their face lowball on it and see where it lands.
that crystal needs a serious polish or replacement. is the mark over the omega a crack?. if something hit it hard enough to crack it, could have taken a serious fall...
as others said, 4k high retail-ish in this speedy-centric market. 3 years ago, you could find these in good shape at 3k all day.
remember, service is 5-700 if needed..

I'm guessing OP stopped by a garage sale and asked if he has watches. I doubt this watch was sitting next to old vinyl records and untouched stuffed teddy bears with a 4k sticker on it. But who knows...

Also agree with others - hard pass at 4k.

Just for frame of reference, I bought a 31130423001005 from a trusted seller here on the forums 2 years ago for slightly under 4K. It was brand new with 5 year Omega warranty. Never worn and with box and warranty card.

Unfortunately for buyers the prices have moved up smartly since two years ago. You can still find BNIB previous Hesalite ones here and there on the secondary market but their prices are close to retail now ($5,000 +).

Agreed, since 31130423001005 have stopped being produced their prices have gone up. I'd rather pay 5K for an unused one with plenty of warranty left than 4K for a garage sale 10 year old one. Glad I got mine 2 years ago, but also the new ones look great and I kinda wish I had waited. But who knew, and I do love my watch. Not sure I could ever get rid of it at this point.
