Hi all, I snapped these photos at local watch store, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what ref this is. The engraving on the back says 'admiral'. Anyone know this ref? Price tag is about $1,100. Thanks
I do not think that this watch has a reference number since the case is not Swiss-made. Maybe it has got a caliber 341 like the example below. A price of $1100 USD sounds expensive, to me, if the watch is gold-filled. Source: https://www.mywatchmart.com/listing...341-calendar-automatic-wdate-12/#&gid=1&pid=6
One has to consider the beautiful 1960's aestethics. Original date window on twelf. Indices made of solid gold. Everything nicely preserved and one of the best movements. I own one of these and it is stunning. Very hard to find as it took me 5 years to get a nice one. Having it in massive gold would only add the vale of 5 g of pure gold. However on the market the price would go 1000 USD higher. The one you quote is simply something else. And the state of conservation is sadly not very good.
I prefer watches with stainless steel or solid gold cases. I also prefer Longines with Swiss-made cases. To me, $1100 USD is a lot of money for a watch with a gold-filled, non-Swiss case. Below is a nice Conquest with a similar dial and case design (but no date at 12) that was for sale in 2022 for 1250 EUR. Further below is another gold-filled caliber 341 (date at 6), in good condition, with Longines bracelet. It sold for $270 USD (plus shipping) on March 19, 2023.
