Seeking feedback on my first vintage Connie

Hi Everyone,

I'm about to purchase my first vintage Connie and I just want to be sure that this is a good one.

I'd really appreciate your feedback on this one. I'm also hesitating a bit about the crosshair, but it's growing on me.

Thanks

Dial looks good.
French cased dogleg.
Missing text suggests an earlier version.
- it would be useful to see the inner case back and cal/ serial number.
Lugs have seen some polish but it is a gold watch and this is quite common.

Can you share the inside of the case back? The large stars are French cases and I suppose this can be confirmed with the manufacturer stamp. Also I can’t see a hallmark on the back of the lug?

I think it looks attractive otherwise. What’s the asking price? They can sometimes be ridiculously priced when in good condition.

For comparison - no date version

I am not following the prices very closely on these references and gold prices have gone up a lot recently. But that’s very pricey… You’re into the deluxe territory there already.

gold prices are very high at the minute - a bad time to buy 18k watches.

I don't know the current price either but for £4k I would want better lugs.

Note: whilst the French and English cases are of (at least) as good quality as the Swiss cases, they do usually go for a little less than Swiss cases as they are locally cased instead of from Omega (even though Omega bought the cases in from Swiss case manufacturers)

Oh I thought it was a nice one, so you’re not recommending it..

The Eagle's head is in the middle of the Observatory plinth - there may also be one on the middle case side somewhere.

I think it’s very nice watch but more than I would pay. The example in @Peemacgee post above has a smaller hour marker to the right of the date window which is not there on OP watch not sure if this is issue or if some did not have it. Regarding the crosshair most find it appealing. The absence of crosshair extension beyond the date window makes me further wonder if there should be small hour marker there.

Some pie pans didn’t have the 3 index (a favourite bugbear of @hoipolloi )

The cross hairs should never go beyond the central plane on pie pans Constellation. ( on dome dials they go fully to the edge of the dial. )

Nice looking watch, but notice the logo and star are slightly misaligned relative to the crosshairs. Any thoughts on this?

It’s quite a straight shot so parallax should be fine - indeed I see the small misalignment. Can’t really fault the dial otherwise. I don’t want to high jack this thread but if anyone has an opinion on the dial, feel free to share!
