Seeking Advice: Vintage Omega Automatic Seamaster

Hi All,

I am new to vintage watches and I am looking for a vintage Omega following research I have done on Youtube (Omega Enthusiast, Theo & Harris etc.) Essentially, I like the history and quality of the brand which I also feel is less ostentatious by comparison with Rolex.

I really like the simplicity of the 1956 and 1966 Seamaster Automatic. I would also like to purchase a watch which is all original (not bothered about the strap being original) and one which is obviously in good working order.

I have seen two options (see below) and would appreciate any advice or comments you may have.

The first 166.011 is a nice looking watch but it's been polished quite a bit. Rounded pitting etc on the case and if there's pitting on the outside you might have a rough movement on the inside. I would keep looking for another since £1,350.00 seems like a lot for it. The other one is a first edition Seamaster calendar with a bumper movement and it's a nice collectors item.

If you're gonna spend £1,350 to £3,000 I'd just get one from OmegaEnthusiast himself. He's pricier than ebay but you get a quality watch. Here's a fantastic looking first edition Seamaster calendar bumper https://www.omegaenthusiastltd.com/product-page/1952-omega-seamaster-calendar-7

The first one is more than 2x what I would pay, it's just a common Seamaster in average condition, with two big dings on the back. The price of the second one is robbery.

Thank you.

I take your point on the rounded pitting.

Agreed on the Omega Enthusiast watch - a fantastic looking one. I will take a look at the website.

Thank you

The retailer is based in an expensive part of London (Burlington Arcade) and so your comment does not surprise me. It has a reputation for being a reliable seller hence why I am looking there as an inexperienced buyer.

Bear in mind if you’re in the UK you’ll need to add c.25% for import duty

the 2757 way overpriced. They are beautiful watches. I bought one for my wife, and they feel very small on the wrist. The dings on the back are not so good, especially at that price. The other one looks nice to me.

If not mistaken. Isn't that a tourist area? High prices for the tourists. Ever city has those areas
