Second set of eyes on this 2531

Listed on C24 from Japan(Nanaple) for $1867 shipped to the US
I like the yellowed hour markers and the faded orange seconds hand tip
Has enough links to fit my 8" wrist
The bezel insert looks to be in good shape considering the age which is one of the biggest priorities for me.

The watch in question is a 2541.80 (quartz) and not a 2531.80 (auto). It looks fine, though it’s not exactly a bargain at $1867.

Gonna add the pics are a little bright to see the actual polish. The first pic makes the bezel look almost perfect but the later pics show some small things scratches.

The band looks like it could be a little stretched out as well.

Looks to be a tritium dial but with service SL hands, not a huge deal but does not match colors/aging.

First if you want a 2531 you will be disappointing to find a battery in your watch.

Bezel and hands looks new because they are new.

The watch is from 1996. A quartz that old with probably no service yet is sure a bet.

Dont' by it.

I disagree. The SuperLuminova hands on a tritium dial almost guarantees it was serviced at some point in the past.

As to whether the OP will be happy with a quartz vs. automatic, that's up to him. I have both, and will probably sell my auto since neither one is a daily wear watch and it's easier to grab the quartz version for the day (when I do wear one of them) and not have to set the time and date.

I find the Bond bracelet is way more comfortable to wear when it has some stretch. I bought a brand new bracelet for my 2220.80 that was serviced by Omega since I wanted to have everything "like new." But I actually prefer the old bracelet because it's way more comfy.

If you are fine with the tritium dial and SuperLuminova hands I think the example in your post is acceptable. I personally don't like that look so it would be a no go for me, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The condition is not bad. And if you ever got it serviced by Omega the case would look like new.

I have no opinion on the price since I have no researched that lately.

With respect to the bracelet size, I would not limit yourself to those with enough links for your 8 inch wrist. Extra links run about $50 per link and are easily ordered from an AD or boutique. If you bought one with a bracelet too small I'd be happy to loan you a couple of links until the new ordered links come in (it can take 2-4 weeks for them to come in).

Thanks for the reply. I cant believe I missed that it is a 2541 and not a 2531. I am curious, though, how can you tell it is quartz just by the pictures? I'd like to keep from making this mistake again.

I believe one thing is that it does not say chronometer on the dial.

Another give away is the size of the marking for 3 vs the date wheel. The automatic has a much smaller lum.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think this one is a no go for me. I cannot believe I missed that it's quartz and not an auto.

2531.80 with 3 lines of text do exist so the date window tell is ""better".

But 99% of the time the mention "chronometer" is the easy way to tell it's a 2531.
