Hey guys. I'm checking out this Seamaster and was hoping just to have someone else take a look to see if I'm overlooking any glaring issues.

-Ref. 2846
-Cal 501
-Serial 16 mil all seem to check out for around 1957.
-Case looks OK, maybe has been polished once or twice over the last 70 years but nothing terrible. Maybe a little pitting on the top right(2 o clock) lug.
-Dial looks good to me too and I can see Swiss made a little through the distorted crystal
-replacement crown I believe

Below are some of the listing pics I screenshotted.

Thanks for the help guys 馃憤

I am an amateur here, but to me it looks like the minute marks do not all point to the center, and the 'G' in Omega and 'S' in Seamaster look suspect, so maybe a refinished dial? And on the movement it looks like the rotor has rubbed a bit (not that visible on the caseback, but the edge of the rotor looks 'polished' from rubbing in some spots. This may have been corrected at a previous service, but it would likely need to be be checked unless the seller has concrete info that is was already addressed/ is no longer an issue.

I suspect over the next few hours I will have my education furthered though.

Nice catch on the rotor! Definitely didn't see that. I'm posting this partially as a learning experience and if it checks out a possible buy. I thought the lettering looked a little off but these textured dials make it even harder for me. Thanks for your input @BlackTalon

Here is another close up of the dial

Dial looks original to me. Case a bit scratched up but not too bad. Movement does look tired. Not a bad watch for a beater.

That new dial photo definitely contradicts my initial impression.

Looks like a nice original watch to me.

1. Needs a proper clover crown. Shouldn't be too difficult to find.
2. As others have noted, check out the rotor bearings. Can be a problem on the Cal. 501's.
3. Don't pay too much for it. Maybe $300 to $400 max.

Good luck,

Textured dial difficult to assess, unless up-close.
Mine from approx '53 as reference

Might help

It's easy to be fooled into thinking that minute markers are misplaced when an adjacent hour marker is casting a shadow, giving the false impression that the minute marker on that side is closer to the hour marker than the one on the other side. Most noticeable here at the 3 and 9 markers.

I can麓t decide by the photos about the hands - are they luminous filled or is it a black lacquer line type?
The color is very dark for a luminous fill in...
If not luminous it is a contradiction to the luminous dial

Hands have luminous. Sometimes they age well. Sometimes not, but seems to match the luminous in the indexes

I was thinking the same thing except that even the lume plots are pretty dark as well.

Here is the link to the eBay auction for any others interested. I was going to consider if it stayed under $350 USD however I'd rather allocate the fund to other auctions/watch related purchases
