Hi All,

I'm trying to find out the case reference number of this omega please?but cant find another on Google so far.....which may not be a good sign!

I just purchased the omega from Bulgaria,so haven't received it yet.

I didn't let the fantasy/nightmare dial put me off,as I was more interested by the early 1939 30t1 movement and the 38mm case size.plus the cost wasn't too high,so have taken a chance with this one.

Movement number is 8984434

Case number is 9838780

Just to add,Its described by the seller as a 30t1,but zooming into the picture under the balance wheel,I'm unable to see T next to the 30,so not sure if it's the early version before the t1?
Many thanks

Going by the serial# it is a cal. 30 (without any T)

ref might be CK 2181

dial is awfully wrong (is much younger than the watch), crown is a wrong replacement

will cost a lot of patience to get it right

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, and that reference you gave does look like it could be the one, much appreciated.

Yes,the dial was an obvious flaw, but I'm happy to have an early 30mm in my collection and it wasn't too expensive, but will look to having this replaced.

I noticed the regulator arm is short compared to most other 30mm and thought it was a one off,but I have seen another one just like it.

This one pictured was sent to Hungry, while another movement I found was sent to Bulgaria, which is where mine is coming from.

All have oversized cases. So was this a popular watch for this area of Europe in the 1930s?

Does the clear pallet pivot jewel have any significance?

I received the watch pictured above in the first post and its an early 30 movement with only 30 under the balance wheel.

But I'm still curious as to why the regulator is short compared to nearly all other 30mm movements I have seen, which includes other movements from the same time period.

I have only seen one other that has this short regulator.both mine and the other is pictured in my earlier post above.

I first thought its was the result of a bored watchmaker, but having now seen another, there must be a reason behind this?

The only connection with both watches is that they were ordered by those living in central Europe.Mine was bought from Bulgaria, the other watch was from hungry.

So my question is,has anyone else come across this detail before?

Many thanks

The short regulator is not correct (altered? replacement?)

As you say, it's not correct, then it must have been altered, but cant see any benefits as to why this was done?
And the fact that two watches have had this done is more strange?

I dont think it could have come from a different calibre, because the chances that the dimensions would be compatible is very small.

They both come from eastern Europe,so maybe there was a watchmaker that had a thing for short index's and altered them?

Strange things do happen I guess!
