Hi,

I recently inherited this omega watch from a late uncle. I was wondering if anybody can help me with an age and model that it is. I'm having the movement cleaned and re-oiled. Would love any info you might have. Seems to be a cal.265 is this a good watch? I think it looks great pretty worn haha, is this a good movement?

Best.
Marc.

It needs a service, that’s for sure. I’ve seen pictures of dials like this (and worse off) that are paired with a yellow strap, it’s a surprisingly nice match. When the dial is damaged like that, either call it patina and sell it, or play to its strengths. Since it’s a family watch, I hope you keep it.

What's marked inside the case back?

Serial number dates to ca 1950.

I will definitely keep it, i think it went to world war 2 so not planning on getting rid of it. It is being serviced at the moment. Yeah i like the dial it's a bit different definitely not for everyone but yeah belonged to a really nice man.

I will have to check when I get it back from the service. I thought I just needed the serial number on the movement. That must be why I'm having trouble tracking it down.

There is no marking inside the caseback besides omega and the logo. Ah well hopefully someone on here has seen one before...

Nice ;) You will get some suggestions for a repair-service. Might be the best to search for a specialist with an Omega-certification

I have a watchmaker who is servicing it for me. The dial is what it is haha. I don't think a redial will be worth it. Speaking of the dial, I have been searching high and low and not found a single 1950 cal .265 with the same configuration on the dial, has anybody seen this style dial?

The dial is cool. As someone stated… find a strap that complements it and enjoy. No way I’d redial it.
