I have owned a Seamaster model nr. 2054.50 for the past 13 years and recently decided to check the current s/h prices. All the pictures of the watch I have found show the tip of the second hand to be painted red whereas, the tip of the second hand on my watch is painted the same luminous green as the lume on the number markers (see pic). Did they change the color of the second hand tip to red for a reason or has it always been red and is my watch an oddity ?

Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

The tip of the second hand should be red. These tend to fades quite badly over time, so it would not surprise me if it was red originally and has now gone pretty much white.

Thank you for the post Archer.

I've owned the watch since it was almost new and the tip has never been red, always the same painted luminous green, same as the lume on the number markers. There's no way the tip on my watch has ever been red, weird. I've contacted Omega directly about it and now await there response.
