Something doesn't sit right with me in regards to how close the word "OMEGA" is to the logo.

All looks fine except for the text that is too close to the logo.

I've done some digging online and found lots of seamaster 30's with a very similar gap from the logo to writing. I feel its original but would be keen to know what others think?

I would like it better on a more classic strap than a modern two-stitch type.

@tomnoton - normally most members would advise that you sought out information prior to the purchase and in this case it is even a watch you have bought from a named member here. It seems really awkward.

There is nothing wrong with the logo and print.

SHIT!

Now I'm worried that my SM30 might be a redial because the 惟 logo to Omega text gap is too small.

Bugger. I think I'll just live with it.

BTW, I know the dial is original (as left the factory with the watch).

Hi all,

Tom passed along this thread. I appreciate the comments, of course I wanted to weigh in. I believe the watch to be 100% original, I鈥檝e owned several Seamaster 30s over the years (one of my favorite references!) But I told him if there are any concerns at all I would absolutely take the watch back and offer a full refund.

Any thoughts?

I'm over publicly assessing doctored/refinished dials. You can thank @gatorcpa who broke me, with his assertion, re: a sloppily reconstructed dial, that Omega QC around 1950 "is not the same is it is today."

Jim, I like how, on your dial, Swiss Made is visible above the reflector ring. I like how the center, horizontal bar in the letters EGA of Omega show a gentle cascade from left to right, with the top of the bar in A starting just slightly lower than the bottom of the bar in G. But what I like most is the vertical centering of the middle horizontal tine in the 3 of 30. It's particularly beautiful to me that the number 3 is almost symmetrical from top to bottom, but with the lower bulge protruding slightly further outward than the upper. That's a good looking 3.

Hey, sorry I didn't mean for it to be awkward, I was just keen to see what some of you guys think. Personally I think it's a stunner. Thank you for your comments. Cheers

A true gent and such a nice a knowledgable guy to deal with!! No complaints here, I was a little worried when a few came in talking about the logo stuff but after some research this seems perfectly fine. I was keen to see what the rest of you guys thought.

On a side note, where do you guys recommend getting new straps from? Something to suit this seamaster 30 ofcourse. Cheers

Tom

In terms of what suits your watch, IMO vintage watches tend to look best with a reptile skin strap (lizard, alligator) but they carry a bit of a premium over calfskin straps. There are also more exotic materials (shark, stingray, emu) that will carry a bigger premium but have a unique look. If you end up looking online (ebay in particular), be sure to note whether the straps are genuine lizard / alligator or are calfskin with a reptile grain impression.

Hirsch straps are held in high regard, Hadley-Roma is a more affordable option. There are many other manufacturers that you will see mentioned in other threads, but these are among the most common. It's usually pretty easy to find Hirsch straps stocked at watchmakers, watch boutiques and jewelers (if you call a hirsch distributor they can give you a list of stockists), so you can see in person what colour / style suits your watch, and get a feel for the material itself.

Happy hunting! We look forward to seeing more pics of what you settle with.
