Seamaster rotor noise.

When moving your arm some times can you hear the rotor on your SMP?

8800 movement? I can with mine. Seems to have become more noticeable after a few years. I guess its a live with it kind thing

will mine is just 2 weeks old. It's not loud, but I did notice it. Not an issue for me if it is normal

Modern seamasters use ceramic bearings in the rotor which are somewhat noticeable comparatively to older watches. So yes, it is pretty common. I wouldn't call it overly bad though, and if it sounds like it is 'free wheeling' for a while, it is likely time for a trip back to Omega.

Just FYI - Omega has been switching these back to steel ball bearing on the 8800 family for example. They didn't give a reason for the change, but my guess is that part of it is the noise.

I wonder if they are one of the items they would replace under a scheduled service. For me, there are times when the rotor noise really cheapens the overall feel of the watch, its become almost a toy like noise if that makes any sense.

Only if there is a reason to replace the rotor assembly - it is not a mandatory replacement at service time.
