Modern seamasters use ceramic bearings in the rotor which are somewhat noticeable comparatively to older watches. So yes, it is pretty common. I wouldn't call it overly bad though, and if it sounds like it is 'free wheeling' for a while, it is likely time for a trip back to Omega.

Just FYI - Omega has been switching these back to steel ball bearing on the 8800 family for example. They didn't give a reason for the change, but my guess is that part of it is the noise.
I wonder if they are one of the items they would replace under a scheduled service. For me, there are times when the rotor noise really cheapens the overall feel of the watch, its become almost a toy like noise if that makes any sense.
