A "Seamaster" with a 50m depth rating... 🫠

That said, I'm glad Omega still invests in HEQ. I've owned a Gen 2 X-33 and still have an X-33 Skywalker and the utility of these watches is pretty much unequalled.
If you race a boat and you need more depth underwater, you’re in big trouble I guess…

Yeah the Idea of sailing is to get splashed by, but not up to your neck in water......if you in the water you're basically doing it wrong!
Mind you small of the beach classes like dinghies and catamarans, going arse up into the drink IS going to happen! These boat owners are not the target market. (They probably don't have the money for such things anyway, better to spend it on new sails, rigging etc.)

So should only be used on bigger boats, or as mentioned earlier best kept as part of your nautical ensemble as you race your boat from the comfort of the yachthouse bar!.....It should set off the look nicely with a gin & tonic in the left hand.
It's not the most attractive looking watch, all that red, white and blue shit isn't to my taste but, it does it's job of sticking out like a 3rd ball on a greyhound.........getting noticed that you have all the gear (and no idea) is the point.

From a purely functional "tool watch" perspective I think this watch is great. Would it be something that I would add to my personal collection and actually wear? Likely not. I do however think it's executed quite well and is a massive step up from the rest of hideous offerings out there. Expensive - yes. Kinda cool - yup.

But for the crew/owners of these multi million dollar boats/racing teams what's a $10k (CAD) watch gonna do to the teams budget?

Yeah I dare say it probably executes it's complications in a clever logical well thought out way, and a bit of fun to play with, but lets face it very few tool watches ever get used in a way that their complications are a necessity or even handy!
Now that's fine for us as enthusiasts, we can admire the cleverness of the design and execution and something to play with, but lets not kid ourselves......we don't really need it.

As someone who has raced sailboats quite a bit - from 470s and Hobie cats to a J111 - I think this is really cool. Would I buy it? No. Too expensive to subject to getting bashed around on deck. Would I buy it if I was the kind of guy who could afford to own one of the boats racing in Newport to Bermuda or a similar big boat regatta? Hell yes!

Does this really need more? After all, this was designed for people trying to stay above the water. 50m (164ft) is more than enough should the user take a trip into the water.

Yes, I need to not worry about WR. So 50 m is not enough. Screw down crown and pushers for me please.

Do you swim to depths of 165ft often?

Uhmm… …I hate to break it to you, but:

This new Seamaster is just a sailing themed (vs space themed) X-33. Omega has been making expensive quartz tool watches for a while.
