My Father was on the AC race committee for many years, they were given some watches through the years and in 2003 they were given this Omega Seamaster.
Its my Heirloom and I was checking it out recently and discovered its not running, I have it here as its going to the Omega service centre, it has never been serviced and Dad has not worn it for nearly 20 years.
Dad isn't much of a watch guy, but I am so its come my way, I really like it, I think I'll wear it regularly.
My regular wear is a Rolex Sea Dweller Deep Sea, I like my Dive/Sports chronos, but I also have an Omega Speedmaster Pro the collection is fairly complete all bases covered.

Nice to have not just a watch with a bit of history, but one of a style you’ll actually enjoy wearing.

It’s always a shame when people post watches that they’ve inherited (or will one day) where it’s obvious they’re either fishing for a price to sell or to can tell it’s destined for a dusty drawer.

Service it and wear the hell out of it!

I'll probably wear it more than the Rolex if I'm being honest!! Can't wait to get it back!!

Very cool, these are a piggyback Chronograph so sending it to Omega for service was the right call, it’ll come back as new. I’d be fascinated to see what other watches the committee was given over the years, I’m a former competitive sailor and a huge fan of the America’s Cup, even have a giant painting of Australia II and a team polo shirt from our win in ‘83.

Yeah there was no question about where to send it for servicing, they told me it will come back better than new!! So I'm looking forward to that.
I'm not sure what years these were given to the race committee, but Dad was also given these two Louis Vuitton watches as well, not my kind of thing, but my sister has her eye on the blue faced one.

Your dad handed down a really cool model. I'm not sure how much you actually use your chronographs for everyday tasks, but I love having a Regatta timer. Lots of daily things occur in 15 min or less and the dots are way easier to read at a glance than typical chronograph sundials.

Common uses for me: timing firing times for food and counting down when my 5-year-old negotiates for 'just 5 more minutes' of playground time.

I'm a pretty hard core watch guy, I use my watches to time various things, I use the diving bezel on my Sea Dweller for timing things to the minute and so forth..... Always nice to use the Speedmaster for timing things as well.. Regatta timer is awesome as you say, can see at a glance.
I do like this era of this Seamaster! Perfect for me...

I really like it, it is quite chunky, I am not sure exactly on the thickness, but it feels about the same as my Rolex Sea Dweller which I wear most of the time.
I like a chunky watch.

Indeed, no helium escape valve!! what the hell!! But at only 300m depth rating, not needed, and I have one on the Rolex, so I'm covered...
