case seemed to be in great shape and have the original finish (?).

The case back has been refinished. Supposed to be smooth, not brushed.

I restored one that I really only bought for the bracelet. It doesn't get much wrist time as I get pissed off with myself for catching the end of the second sweep whilst cleaning the dissolved mini rugby ball shaped rubber gasket stopper thingies and pinging 3mm off!! They wear big..very attractive on shark mesh too. I will probably sell mine at some point down the road , but not yet!
Just fyi, your watch is a different ref, 166.065, different shape and bigger at 38mm.

Another vote for the 1069

The 1125 lasted about 3 minutes on my Seamaster

before I swapped back to the vastly superior 1069.

a BA168.022 for a little contrast

Here’s my 168.023 on a 1175 with no. 48 endlinks.

Thanks for sharing that. 1175 on these is news to me 😀

Can this maybe become an inclusive general sparkle dial thread? I wanted to start one with this, but it was actually in spa during lockdown - probably for the best. I know there are haters of this case - I love sharp lugs as much as the next guy/gal - but the shape is way short of the grotesque excesses of the early 70s (I was there at the time...), and the finish is slow to show scratches. Less commonly, although it is not signed "chronometre", it actually is powered by a beautiful cal 564. Maybe it was a custom order for Meister - anyone know?

So, here's my 166.067, serial 26 mio, wearing 1168 with 605 links. 🙄

(Apologies for quality of second photo - looks slightly better at this end - tried to enhance it, but hey...)

@TimeODanaos That is a great looking watch. To be honest, I have never seen this case style before and I would be all for a general sparkle thread. To be honest, It was a little difficult to dig up information when I was researching these watches. Information on late 60's and early 70's seamasters was sparser than I would've expected.

@padders and I seem to have a similar mindset when it comes to these watches. The case on the one I just bought looks (to me) very modern and fits really large for a vintage. I'm really surprised these aren't more expensive and the addition of a sparkle dial makes them all the more interesting.

I think the 166.010 is another great watch from this period that fits and feels larger. I feel like the only drawback is that it copies the Rolex oyster case, while mine and yours seem a little more uniquely omega.

@TNTwatch I really appreciate you flagging this for me. To be honest, I had seen others with the smooth case back and had wrongly assumed that they had been buffed over the years. How does the rest of the case look to you? If the case back was refinished, Is it safe to assume the rest of it has?

😁 Cool! I'll set one up - production credits to you - when I get home ...unless by then you already did! Sun's out - what could be nicer? 🥰

I love that 1069 as well. Any recommendations on how to source any of these bracelets? I had looked on eBay and they all seem rather sparsely available and pricey.

@Toishome You had mentioned that Omega still sells the 1025. Is getting one as simple as calling up omega or would I have work with an AD or somebody with a parts account?

I must confess I thought that radial finish odd too. Very nice though. Mine which I am pretty sure hasn’t been touched is smooth.

Maybe had an inscription removed. It’s interesting that they put that very tidy radial sunburst finish on it. That isn't easy to do well unless you have the right equipment. It almost looks factory and it would have been easier just to polish it I would have thought.

Haha, Thank you! I'll follow your lead; I am still a little new to forum etiquette and protocols.

You mean 1125 😉
Very easy. Walk to any AD and they will order it for you.

Good to know! I thought it looked too good to have been applied outside the factory, but its interesting to know that good refinishes exist.

I have seen many of these watches and I have come across a number with the sunburst case back finish. I actually have one myself. I don't see how that many would-be refinished, especially on a watch that is not that valuable. Also, the finish on the case back matches the entire case perfectly.

Makes sense. Just a variation then.

I’m on team smooth (caseback)

The sun brushed back looks very well done and if not factory they removed very little metal.

Can you post some case back pictures of your watch?

The rest also looks refinished, but seems following the original finish and not overly done (still recognizable though).

I don't mind refinished cases as long as it's done correctly and not too much as to deforming the original shape.
