I have had this one since 2008 and it was NOS when I bought it. The ref. is 168.023 and it is a cal. 751 "day-date". Dial has a small but nice step at the minute track and the indexes, Omega logo and text are applied. Dial in itself is "sparkly" - a sort of grainy metallic that really lights up in the sun or under light. Not that it shows in my pictures but what can I do... There has been zero hours of sun where I live in Sweden - in october - and I am not kidding. Zip sun. They have promised a glimpse of it in the upcoming weekend though. So - no sparkly dial in my pictures. There is a version of this watch that is not chronometer certified and I believe that one has the reference 166.032. Same watch but with a cal 752 - and not a chronometer (I have edited from cal 750 to cal 752). Today I put it on a Hirsch Artisanal Alligator strap and used it for work (desk job). It is a wonderful watch. Balanced and beautiful with its blend of brushed and polished finishes. A nice size - 36,5 mm - I would guess. And sparkly - I have heard...
and great strap selection! I just happen to be wearing the non-chronometer version in yellow https://omegaforums.net/threads/wruw-today.567/page-2833#post-567086 and the case on mine is a sharp as your case!
A great reference, and one of the only late 60's "modern" Omegas that are in my sights. It reminds me somewhat of my Longines Conquest which has the same transitional vibe about it. You can see a lot of the design traits of more modern watches in case, lugs and the movement features, but it retains a lot of what makes the older models special. Doesn't have a built-to-price feel about it at all, and there are loads of great details.
Thnx for posting your amazing example @styggpyggeno1 I really love how you capture the dial in all its radiance.
and great strap selection! I just happen to be wearing the non-chronometer version in stainless and the case on mine is not as sharp as your case! OK , I lied, I'm not wearing now, but I could if I wanted to.
These are just great watches, one of the greatest assets Omega has is the fact that unlike many of their competitors there's a really low barrier of entry through vintage for people to get a brilliant watch with an in-house movement, these and the Cosmic / Geneves (at a lower price point again) are one of the best first mechanical watches you can buy.
Bracelet to strap on these makes it look like 2 different watches. Very nice specimen there @styggpyggeno1
Six and a half years of waiting for sun in Sweden ... but perseverance pays off! Gorgeous watch, and it has held up very nicely in the meantime. Really love the indices, case finish and the texture of the dial.
