Hi all,

I bought this ref. 14700 on Sunday and I got it in the mail today. I have been looking for this kind of dial for quite a while, so I just had to take a chance on it. I got it for about $360.

As soon as I got home I opened the box and found this:
It was full of white paint stains and a lot of wrist cheese. After some thorough cleaning I started to rub down the plexi with and polish it:

I then opened the caseback with a jaxa:

It surely needs a new o-ring, but to me it looks great. I am really happy with this, but what do you guys think? How much do these usually go for in this non-serviced condition?

The crystal appears to be missing the tension ring...

Good job cleaning up the plexi, however now you can see more detail that it has been redialed. Text is off, missing serifs, Seamaster script is way off. Heres an original dial for comparison.

SN dates movement to early 1962, this probably had radium lume in the indices slots as shown on my example. I suspect this was removed and tritium lume dots added at redial. Just a guess though. Flash UV light on it see if it behaves like tritium. Doubt they are radium

Shit. Now I see it. The e's are not how they should be and the S is skewed...

Well, the tension ring is there. The picture just makes it too flat.

The very edge of the dial is exposed - that is normally covered by the tension ring in the crystal.

So there should be an additional part on top of this?

The tension ring is inside the crystal...
