Found this beat up old thing recently on an eBay auction..

Dubious at first thinking it was a "Norman Morris Special" I decided, from comparisons to similar Seamaster cases I have owned to give it a go..

The pictures show the watch in its worst possible state. I would hope that with some TLC, new crystal, crown, clean up the markers and general clean, it may come back to its glorious former self..

The watch was interesting to me because it had a similar dial style to some early 50's connies I am especially fond of, with the case and style of a Seamaster. A textured centre part until the minute section and a smooth out rim. And the black dial. Arrowhead markers.. :D

There is a lot of tarnish on the dial, markers too. It will hopefully clean up. Time will tell!

I can see its potential, but its a far cry from that right now.. :(

Looks like it had some work down around 08..

Do not clean the markers because they have luminous dots on them and this is ORIGINAL condition - a rarely found feature even on Constellations and even much rarer on SMs !
Try to keep the dial as is - just my thoughts...
    interesting piece
    enjoy

    Thanks Erich,

I will leave the markers to leave the remaining lume on the dial. Maybe just a light clean and crown & crystal replacement as crystal isn't Omega one, I think then it will look quite nice, and a different piece to most Seamasters i've seen.

    Thanks,
    Alex

I'm no expert but the hands are new to me on a seamaster. Lovely dial.

Well spotted, typically no. I would say these a hands are incorrect. But, if you can show me another example to compare it to then I would be happy to admit defeat! ;)

I've owned Seamasters with Alpha hands before. They seem to be an unusual option Omega used in the late 50's to early 60's automatics. Here's a 1960 caliber 591 (the temporary replacement for the 50x series before the 55x/56x took over):

Yours has the same style second hand to so I'm inclined to say all 3 are original to the watch, or at least a correct matching set.

In all fairness they match the dimensions of the dial perfectly, and all look to be in similar condition, so unless proven otherwise i see no reason why they should not be original to the dial and watch.

    Thanks Dennis,

I still haven't lift the sticky thing to see what reference it could be. Any ideas? Ps. I think a similar case style was sold by Mike recently..

It's a good point. I am always surprised with these Seamasters. They can vary quite a bit ! They look like they have aged with the dial and markers.

Just an update on the Seamaster and a few pictures of it with a new crown and light polish, new crystal. He even managed to retain the lume dots!! Movement is still being tested but it retains a OK beat amplitude..

I think Stefan, once again has excelled himself... This watch IMO has the best of both worlds, constellation styling In a seamaster case..

Holy snappin' duckshit !!!

What a transformation, and how lucky are you to have a watchmaker that can do that level of work.

    Simply a beautiful Seamaster.

Just seen this. Very close, interestingly the 2648 is a Constellation reference. Or so I thought!
