Hello everyone,

I am considering buying my first luxury watch and I have opted for the Omega Planet Ocean, it is a watch that I love but I am in doubt whether to opt for the normal blue or the Summer Blue edition. Both 39.5mm

I have tried the Summer Blue in a boutique and the truth is that I loved it, it seems more unique but I don't know how wearable it would be in the day to day that dial.

On the other hand the standard blue seems to me that...more standard but more versatile I think.

What do you think about spending this amount of money, personally which one would you choose?

Thank you very much!

The summer blue has really grown on me recently. Seeing these two side by side, the standard blue feels a bit bland. Summer blue all the way.

I'd go with the normal blue. Not a fan of the summer blue. But that's just me.

I had not noticed Planet Ocean until I came across this Summer Blue, I was completely captivated. I tried them both on in Switzerland and honestly I also liked the Summer Blue better. When spending this kind of money you think about whether to go for a more conservative option or the one that appeals to you the most. Without a doubt the Summer Blue seems more interesting to me

To enable you a bit further, calling @ErichPryde & @pdxleaf. It was seeing these two post excellent pictures of their Summer blue watches that changed my mind.

I understand this as you want to be safe and get something you won’t regret. But, with watches, I find it’s best to get what appeals to you most. You’ll be the one wearing it and seeing each time you do so. You don’t want to look down at your wrist and think “maybe I should have…”. Watches are fun, so have a bit of fun. Get what speaks to you.

Wow, the watch is amazing, with that dial it looks like you are wearing a different watch depending on the light. I have also seen pictures of people wearing it with NATO and nylon straps and it looks great. I think I'm getting more and more sure about the Summer Blue 😁.

Thanks for sharing these photos!

Ah yes, the age old question of trying to choose between two watches for your first and only watch. ok, got that out of my system

With this being your first luxury watch, the Regular Blue works in every situation and As much as I like the Summer Blue dial, it has a more casual vibe to it.

But as we all know once you find the watch, you will know it. When you go against that, you end up wanting it until you finally get it. Then you'll have two watches and the problem will resolve itself. 🤣

Similar to you, I just purchased my first real luxury watch a few months ago which was a Planet Ocean (43.5mm). I got a black dial and I love the watch - it suits me perfectly. Absolutely no regrets at all. When I was in the store, they showed me the Summer Blue and it looks really great. Honestly you can't go wrong with either one. I do recommend that when you purchase the watch ask for the new box (the one that has the watch sit in another smaller removable travel box). I got the old box, which is fine, but the new box is...well...new...😉

Cannot speak highly enough of the Summer blue dials. From dark and moody blue

to bright, amazing lume

to bright and powdery

and sharp, shocking blue

and even to gray-blue!

oh, and the almost impossible to photograph sparkling dial effect, light sunlight dancing on far-off wave crests

The heritage dial acts a LOT differently than the PO dial and tends to be more muted in how it displays color activity- but the range is going to be similar. These dials are fantastic and that summer blue PO dial is gritty, bright, metallic, and beautiful.

Oh I didn't know they had a new case, I'll definitely ask about it. I also found the classic black version to be very nice, a great choice, but for this Seamaster I'm more in favour of the blue colour. Omega has too many options that I like😅 Thanks so much for the advice!

I can only say wow! What photos! When I see them, the summer blue attracts me more and more😍 I think it's unique. Is the strap in the fourth photo from Omega? I love it! Thank you very much for the photos and such a detailed explanation.

I did not know what I was doing when I got my "one and only", just knew it had to be an Omega. Lucked out with a 2245.

Are the summer blue more casual? Is it something to consider with a casual and tooly watch like the PO? I think The summer blue looks moore refined, in a way, in my eyes.

The OP will probably fall in love with either one of them, PO are great watches, and decide to relive that feeling with another one and the problem will not resolve it self as you say, but get much worse; OP will be an watch addict.

To OP good luck with your choice, its a tuff one!

That is an artem sailcloth strap. On a blue strap the blue-blues of the dial seem to be intensified more often (as opposed to the silvery blues), which can be fun. However, the Omega bracelet on the heritage is so ridiculously comfortable, I typically wear it on the bracelet.

I have very seriously considered having Aaron bespoke from combat straps make something for me but haven't been able to decide on a material as of yet.
