Do we have any update on this fine thang? Not in its original form, of course, but something wearable, It’s so puuurty..
I remember hearing sometime last year that there was an update for the Planet Oceans in the pipeline. Perhaps we'll see it come this year?
I need to know when should I start kissing my local OBs asses. I am setting up a weekly Door Dash delivery or coffee and fresh flowers. Dibs on the SanFrancisco OB.
The speedy 3861 just came out and a seamaster 300 soon. So it might be a while. They did recently released a video on the deep sea dive so maybe soon. I'm thinking it will be around 12k or so which I don't have
Thing is, part of the very reason this watch exists is to be part of the meanest dive watch club--those no-compromise designs that can survive the Mariana Trench (and then some). This is Omega's "Deep Sea". It is as if the more outrageous and unwearable, the better, if only to make a statement.
Apparently, the use of Liquidmetal as a bond between the case and crystal helped to reduce the thickness of the watch – iirc, this technology is planned to be implemented in the new PO line. Hopefully, that would make it considerably slimmer than the current model, as the process could be applied to both the front and back sapphire crystals.
I believe the Seamaster 300 update comes next - It has been postponed and should have been released last year already but little do I know... However, a wearable, industrialized version of the "Ultra Deep" would be amazing. I think this technical POC would allow for quite some changes to the PO line. New materials, new colors, no HE valve, not limited and a wearable size would make an appealing dive watch package.
I guess comprehension isn’t your strong suit. The 0P asked “Do we have any updates on this fine thang”?? He didn’t ask for speculation or guesses or what people think. So why respond if you don’t have an answer?
Personally, I like to see people rather speculating than being disrespectful but that might be only me.
It’s a thread to share info and speculate. Nearly most threads are, in every forum/platforms. That’s 50% of the fun in collecting. Don’t be too literal. Toss in your 2cents and see if you are close to the final product release.
You're right.......the site is for sharing and speculating as to what, if, when, etc. In regards to this specific thread, your thread, you asked for any updates, right?? All you got was guesses, opinion and assumptions. If you're ok with that, fine but its not what you asked for in your post......just sayin"!!!!!
I guess our watches have a much greater chance of ending up on the ocean floor than in space so in a way these are much more practical, I do go deep see fishing sometimes and I suppose a watch could fall off while casting
Did I ever mention how badly I want one of these. I would go into debt to buy one. It's the ultimate diver. If they make it smaller which they will need to, assuming, the water resistance needs to be outrageous for it to be different from what Omega already sells.
