Hi Can anyone tell me if this really a Geneve.... Not sure the crown is original either Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks Tim
I see a Seamaster with what apperas to be a 1010 movement. CIrca 197? for the use of the movement. Correct me if I am wrong here please, going on initial looks only. Looks to have proper case markings. Can't find the reference numbesr on the Omega sight, it just does not work like it used too. Does the crown have the Omega symbol on it. Could be a generic service repalcement. Why would you believe this is a Geneve? Just curious.
Case reference is for a Geneve, dial appears to be refinished incorrectly to make it a Seamaster. Crown from a 50s Constellation. If you've purchased it return it if possible, if you're thinking about purchasing it DON'T.
That case belongs to a Seamaster quartz with 1342 movement? Or maybe it's just the caseback? Definitely wrong crown . Yepp correct myself there . Everything is alright as is . But the caseback is wrong .So is the crown . It's a Seamaster but the Geneve watch has the same case . Which reference i don't now ?
The crown might be worth more than the rest of the watch. It looks to be an original thin 10-sided crown for a Ref. 168.005 Constellation. Not easy to find, and been discontinued from Omega for many years. gatorcpa
Thanks for the comments Bought this watch recently. Was suspect because I could not find a picture of this model anywhere on the Internet, the model number pointed to a Geneve, also not seen many seamaster's with a painted logo on the face only Geneve from this period. Also I did think the crown was from another model. So it looks like the case dial and cal is original (apart from case back), but the crown from an earlier model? Cheers
Or it could be that the case is from a Geneve (hence the wrong model number on the screwback) but the face and movement taken from a seamaster... not sure why though
Sell the crown and buy a caseback and crown from Ebay . I shall search for the right reference number
I've got a geneve for sale if you're interested, i'm just trying to figure out how to post in the for sale section.. it was serviced by Archer Watches earlier this year too so it's ready to wear! https://omegaforums.net/threads/fs-omega-geneve-cal-613-recently-serviced.30586/
The seamaster print on the face looked a little too fresh, especially around the st, but why would anyone want to go to all the trouble to change a geneve to a seamaster?
Thanks! and i just heard back from the moderators about being able to post, it's now up in the FS section. (sorry for taking over ur post jim)
$$$ Name recognition of Seamaster and perceived value over Geneve. Watches like this appear on eBay regularly.
