My son has inherited this Seamaster from his father-in-law who passed about 20 years ago. it was purchased from a US military PX in Japan in 1966 and is in very nice condition save for a large abrasion on the crystal. I collect another brand and know nothing about Omega, need some help understanding this watch so I can source a new crystal.

Can someone decipher for me the numbers on the guarantee slip? From reading some posts here I understand that 562 is the movement caliber? and 166010 means something, but what? and what does the 57 mean?

Also, the metal notation "silver 14K" seems to refer to the dial and markers/hands, correct? this case looks like stainless steel to me.

    thanks, tom eanes

Yup. That's an automatic Seamaster reference 166.010.

Completely legitimate and original. Nice little set.

166.010 is the modelnumber. With it's original BOR bracelet. Very nice. Made for Japan, 35mm. Beauty!

Nice watch, set is a cool addition ! If the plexi isn't too deeply scratched you can polish it with some polywatch or cape code cloth.
Apart from that the watch just need a thorough clean !

So the crystal is acrylic? It's so clean except for the one abrasion i thought it must be glass.

You don't need a new crystal. Buy a tube of Polywatch off Amazon or eBay, follow the instructions and hand-polish the scratch right out. Use a clean cloth to apply, don't be tempted to use a paper towel.

Very beautiful and as some other have mentioned you could do some things yourself to give it some life back.

The abrasion was not deep so I was able to polish it out with Sunshine Polishing Cloth.

Put it on the timer, auto beat rate detect showed 19800, is that correct?
