Hi, I'm new to the forum.. Always wanted a seamaster but I don't know what to make of this particular watch. I hope someone could help with identifying it.. The movement is a Japanese, quartz.. This was quite a disappointment after the watch maker in town told me that the watch is an authentic omega. The watch maker mostly looked at the strap which had several markings, also an number which is : 1502/824. I hope the picture's are ok. Is this a "Frankenstein" watch? If the strap and dial for instance are original, I could consider to get a original omega movement and place that in this watch.. Probably not worth much now or after placing an other movement, but i would not mind the value so much.. It has a dolphin theme on the dial. Thanks in advance..
If by "ok" you mean horribly out of focus, then they're perfect. If you are interested in an Omega, come here first and show the experts before purchasing.
Ik I got this watch from my father, about 13 years ago. He did not use it for a good while.. I will try to take some new pictures, I don't have a mirror reflex camera unfortunately.
Ths Thanks for the responses guys. It's not easy to see at all on the pictures, but it is a theme like the wave theme behind the hands. I'm not to formiliar with the correct terms. I will try to take clearer pictures tomorrow.
There are some Seamasters with dolphins on the dial - some of the Jacques Mayol 120m limited editions. As far as I can see, none of them had white dials (though who knows what oddities lurk in the JDM models etc. ) This, combined with the Japanese quartz movement would indicate some sort of horrible fakery. I don't believe any sort of tinkering with it will be cost effective.
Thanks for your response. So before Jacques mayol, there where no models made with the dolphin theme neither have there been white Jaques mayol models for that matter.. I must say that the dial looks pretty tight when it comes to the details in the letters and such. The lumination works splendid, the whole hands are covered. That leaves the strap, this looks pretty real in my opinion. The watch maker mostly looked at the strap when identifying it.
That is a bit like looking to buy a car and concluding it is correct by pronouncing that the alloy wheels are the genuine
I agree. Here are some better pictures, I am using my phones camera, have to get to know it's camera features. Hope these pictures are more helpful.
I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. Hoping that some part like the strap is perhaps real. I remembered wrong exactly, the movement is by epson corp. Vx32e, sorry. That just leaves the strap i guess. Can someone verify if the strap is a copy or real?
When the Internet is full of stories about Franken watches, I don't think my question is that ridiculous. Plus the fact that the watch maker looked close at the strap and said it was real. The watch maker even showed it to an other person who was working there. Makes it worth the trouble to investigate at least the strap. But Ok...
A Strap is a watch band made of cloth, rubber, leather or other non-metal material. A Bracelet is a metal link watch band. Similar to a jewelry bracelet, may have a clasp to open it.
