Hi, have you encountered this problem?

I received the watch in August 2022. They were on hand 5 times. While working under the light, I saw that there were some lines, I wiped the glass, but it didn't help, then I took a closer look and the ceramic dial is cracked.
The watch is like new, only on hand 5 times, no scratches or drops

I sent them for a services, so I believe they will replace it under warranty

Are you sure it's the dial that's scratched/cracked? looks from the pictures it might still be the crystal.

Yes, definitely cracked dial, as you can see the abrupt change in the reflections. If you haven't yet sent the watch in, take photos of the watch case to prove that there is no impact damage on it, as that may come in handy.

Hopefully they will swap this under warranty...

That's so strange! Any ideas what could have caused it? I would have thought that QC would have caught something like this, especially since these METAS watches are tested post casing.

Also, is there a lil shock-absorber/bumper around these ceramic dials? It never occurred to me, I've seen plenty of pictures of dials mounted on the movement, and movement rings to affix the case; anything different for these sorts of dials as they may be relatively more fragile than brass ones? And here i was looking at enamel-dialled spring drive GS...

No, there's nothing different in the way these are assembled - no shock absorber or anything. Not sure how it would have happened, but this sort of damage isn't limited to ceramic dials. I had a watch in not too long ago where the dial was cracked pretty badly...

that's what I thought at first, but the glass is clean

I sent the watch and I don't have a photo of the back, but the seller wrote in the service sheet that the case is not damaged... but I know what you meant by that

It wasn't that easy to notice, even the seller didn't see it until i pointed the watch at a certain angle, it's hard to see, but it's cracked
the first part is clearly visible in the photo, but here the second part is almost not visible at all because the light falls differently

For painted or enamel dial, it is not surprising, since there is only a thin layer of material on top of metal. The top layer will degrade and crack as it ages.

It is a bit surprising that a ceramic dial would have cracks like that though.

I guess the dial was shocked at some point, or there was a flaw in the ceramic during the firing process.
Ceramic/porcelain artists always have a small fraction of their wares fracture or shatter after the final firing.

This was not age related...

@omegameister7676 Unbelievable :-( I don't know what batch I have, it's hard to say whether it's a coincidence or a specific batch issue
Can you send a photo?
They are currently under service, when I know something new I will write

mine have 3 long lines propagating from the hands outwards to the edge of the dial, as can be seen in the pictures, btw mine is from late 2020

The HE crown look like it’s been damaged? As it will be in warranty what has Omega said?

didn't do anything to it, i didn't wear it much, took it out one day and just realise the light reflects from it a little different and realise that the dial is cracked

And didn't you have it from the beginning? did you just not see it.

For the prices these watches go for, this shouldn't be happening. Unacceptable IMO. A cracked dial that wasn't there at first but suddenly would happen over time is probably a manufacturing defect on the material used.

That’s what your warranty is for. I’ve not seen any indication that this is a widespread issue, so I don’t think there’s any need for concern really.
